A little before and after action. Got some rounds from my neighbor and took a maul to quarter them and then used the splitter. Glad to finally get a good chunk of it split and stacked. This is going to be the start of my "getting ahead pile" while I try to ration my seasoned stuff for this year.

Yard work. And lots of it today. This time of year I get killed with leaves. I finally decided to invest in a big backpack blower to replace my husqvarna 125bv handheld. Went with a Stihl BR800X. Couldn’t be happier. Cut my time to a 1/4 of what it took me with the old one. Bagged 13 bags of leaves yesterday after blowing the entire front and backyard, and bagged 87 bags today. Needless to say I am tapped. Probably another 30 bags worth on the ground, but ran out of bags. Still have 2 oaks and 3 Norway maples that have their leaves. So more to come.

Picked mine up Friday and I agree. This thing will move PILES of leaves. I just got done with the first tank of gas for a gentle break in and will see what it will really do now.

Today I nailed down 4 bundles of shingles for a layover patch. Did this for a friend, to help hold him over till he's ready to replace the old farmhouse roof. Not a course of action I would normally perform ..... layovers.

What does this have to do with firewood/stove related work? It was a trade for a decommissioned 120gal/420lb LP tank. I'll be using this as the burn chamber on my second OWB build. This one will be a gasser. I've been looking for this size tank for 6yrs. Been studying gasifier furnaces for equally as long.

I'm a bit stoked over it.

Since we have rain coming in later in the week, we put in one load of cherry and then two loads of some real crappy pine. I'm hoping the temps will be warm enough that we can burn pine during the day with a load of cherry at night until the end of November unless we run out of pine, that's when we'll make the switch over to all hardwood.

After I got home, a couple of days after the wind storm, it's been clean up around here. I cleared the pine that fell right in front of the house and dropped a hanger that was broken in the wind. It was right over the splitter so I didn't have a lot of choice to leave it for later.

After I got it winched down to the ground, I was standing with a coffee and found this just up the hill.

This one should be...... interesting to get on the ground.

Off to split some wood now.

Cut up, split and stacked the rest of the oak. Got about a half cord out of it. Some really nice heartwood on this stuff with minimal sap wood

I didn't do any work outside today but I did help the wife pick up the last few items for Thanksgiving, after I had a late lunch, I made some soup.
