I didn't have an overnight fire so the furnace was set. This morning the temp bottomed out at minus 13, after two cups of coffee I had the first fire of the day going. The first load had a mix of maple, ash with some beech splits.

Last night's oak and locust is done. Some spruce now. 27 outside, going up to 29. A half an inch of snow late afternoon to tonight, they say. Down from 4" forecasted earlier.

27 outside. Currently 71 inside. Started out at 67 this morning. 4 oak splits to start then added a small split of oak and 2 bio bricks. Been having some wind issues today. Fire almost went out but returned quickly. Other times the flames went lazy. Thankfully no smoke came out like has happened in the past.

The spruce is done. Red oak and two short black locust splits.
25 outside, going down to 21. Upstairs 70.

I had about 2-3 days left in my pile when my dad asked me to come over and get his tractor unstuck. He has over a hundred acres of woods but there is about 3 feet of snow on the ground here in upstate NY so it would be tough going very deep into the woods as I would have to carry everything out on my back and in deep snow. I found a small standing dead maple at the end of his driveway right next to the road so that is what I am burning for the next few days. It most definitely could have used some seasoning but once it gets going, it really puts off a lot of heat...

Gotta do what you gotta do, but get the flue temp up quick and keep it there...

-17/66 wasn’t expecting it to be this cold this morning but it is what it is! The full load in the Fireview took off on me last night and hardly had any coals left this morning after 10 hours. I guess I’m still learning the stove.

Last night's 9 pm oak is done.
Reload with spruce.
I've been warming up this maple piece of 18" long, and 8" thick, and 8" to 5" "deep" since last night. Going in tonight.
Four more available. This was the lightest one. Measured and weighed when I made them, weighed again and it's 20%. A year ago it was 21%>

Just got home from spending a few days in the white mountains of NH with my wife. Had some nice us time away from the kids. Did a lot of snow shoeing along the swift river on the kancamagus highway. Also did some snow tubing on cranmore mountain.

That being said, came home and loaded up the stove with oak, maple and a little ash.

I didn't have an overnight fire last night, just set the furnace. It was 5.5 this morning, after the first cup of coffee, the wood stove had some cherry with seven splits of beech going in it.

The wife made another fire at 12:30 with some beech, I'm just getting ready to load the wood stove up again with beech and some ironwood.

Last of the ash is out. Fired up some weak coals and loaded a 3/4 load of ash and shoulder season wood. House will probably be chilly later when we get home from a fish fry and shopping.
Don't forget my gift. ==c
