Hey you’re from WI you don’t have Cod and Haddock! That’s what we eat 😂
That's true, but cod and haddock are as much of a fish fry Friday staple here as walleye, perch and bluegill. It's all yummy fried up right. Cod or haddock is typically all you can eat and my go to. The restaurants regret seeing me and my linebacker size boy walk in for AYCE!😋

Maybe 1-2 Out of 40 Spots . . only have to Drive 50-60 Miles . .

Little Crappies
Yes those might Taste OK , but those Pulling them out of Swamp where a Military Base is Built within 30-40 miles
NO Thanks

We use to do Jack Perch in same manner from Big Lakes . . where Lake Trout Chase them .. those are Nice & Firm . .
Big Lakes are pretty good Today . .

Yes to COD from Rock Port - Mass to Maine , Upper Nova Scotia . .
Use to Fill a Big Old Cooler in 20~30 Min. / 45 Min. & @ Men 2 Coolers . . Jigging on Boat with Corn
In Maine didn't have to Go Out ~ Very Far Either . .

What about catfish?

If you're upstream from Oak Ridge (x-10 and y-12) you're good .
If you're downstream from them you might actually find deer with fins ...

Buckthorn today. Other than a few pieces of seasoned ash that I am mostly reserving for cooking with on my Solo, I am at the point where I am cutting wood and it goes directly in the insert. This is the largest buckthorn I have ever harvested. The top 2/3 is still in the woods since I was tuckered out after carrying this 70lb chunk of trunk out of the woods through the deep snow. I'll have to go back for the rest. Not sure if my moisture reader is broken but single digits when I cut down this tree today is wild. The odd looking cuts are because my mitre saw isn't big enough to get it all on one pass. Great firewood! Smells medicinal when you burn it but it has probably provided 30% of the BTUs in my house over the last few years.

Folks what’s everyone burning tonight? I’m burning some very old cherry that my dad processed many years ago before he passed away. Been saving it since it came from my childhood home. Still burns and smells awesome.

I’m surprised it’s ready to burn. My buddy cuts Ash in Maine and burns it the same year and it’s still not seasoned.

The spruce was done.
A single... Not a split... Of maple and some oak.

It would have fit if the metal clamp holding I bricks in front wasn't there .. it's 1.5" up now, in the front .

26 outside, going down to 17.
Last one below 20 for the foreseeable future.
Monday likely the stove will go cold as I've been burning a bit of wood from next year. I'll replenish that with some pine that has been split and stacked off the ground but not covered. It'll be dry next year.

I got home from up north last night and T had the place toasty and I was happy to NOT find a box full of coals. Ran a load of oak overnight and woke to a hot coal bed and 15 deg outside. I started feeding the rock yellow pine for the day and I am pouring coffee for the morning.

16/69 here come the warm up! 35 today and low 40’s all next week. Still learning the new Fireview. Last nights full load of Oak barely lasted 10 hours with the air completely shut down. Maybe the warmer weather will extend the burn time more.

Late starting a fire this morning. Had a long sleep. Mix of 5 species this morning. Load will head to 700 STT. 24 now heading to 36.

Looking forward to warmer temps coming. Also plan on getting two cords next month and start the process of relocating a few storage areas with better sun and wind direction. I do end up re-splitting some to have various sizes.

Stoves been cold for a week. I’ve been off to warmer pastures but still thinking firewood. Palms seem like slow growing strong wood. Straight and seem easy to process. Where do they land on the btu chart?

I spoke with someone at the nature preserve and the wood has oil on the bark very similar to poison oak/ivy/sumac..

Really cool. Hope you had a nice trip! You missed the ice we had here in New England.

Just reloaded at 350STT on bed of coals raked forward. 29 outside. A split of oak and maple with a huge 10” by 18” cherry split diagonally across the top. Damn my dad split large pieces back in the day. Will be mid 30’s today so don’t want to cook us out. Downstairs 70 and upstairs 67 which will climb with south facing sun today.
