I didn't have an overnight fire so the furnace was set. This morning the temp bottomed out at minus 13, after two cups of coffee I had the first fire of the day going. The first load had a mix of maple, ash with some beech splits.

Last night's oak and locust is done. Some spruce now. 27 outside, going up to 29. A half an inch of snow late afternoon to tonight, they say. Down from 4" forecasted earlier.

27 outside. Currently 71 inside. Started out at 67 this morning. 4 oak splits to start then added a small split of oak and 2 bio bricks. Been having some wind issues today. Fire almost went out but returned quickly. Other times the flames went lazy. Thankfully no smoke came out like has happened in the past.

I had about 2-3 days left in my pile when my dad asked me to come over and get his tractor unstuck. He has over a hundred acres of woods but there is about 3 feet of snow on the ground here in upstate NY so it would be tough going very deep into the woods as I would have to carry everything out on my back and in deep snow. I found a small standing dead maple at the end of his driveway right next to the road so that is what I am burning for the next few days. It most definitely could have used some seasoning but once it gets going, it really puts off a lot of heat...

Gotta do what you gotta do, but get the flue temp up quick and keep it there...

Last night's 9 pm oak is done.
Reload with spruce.
I've been warming up this maple piece of 18" long, and 8" thick, and 8" to 5" "deep" since last night. Going in tonight.
Four more available. This was the lightest one. Measured and weighed when I made them, weighed again and it's 20%. A year ago it was 21%>
