BB, that definitely is the quickest way to a deer's heart; corn. They simply love it! It must be like candy. Acorns are a close second as is apples. Speaking of apples, when they get rotten, wait until a real frosty morning and you'll find the deer there. For some reason the frost must make them taste better.

Not to get back on topic, but ashes are great for weed control. I let the ash cool in a bucket for a day or two, then pour them on my patio and sweep it into cracks. The high concentration of ash changes the PH enough to prevent weed seeds from germinating, it also kills some of the existing weeds. Helps a lot! Probably would work well on gravel driveways too.
