We have an outside temp of 5.7 this morning, the temps up here are 67 & 68 with the basement temp at 72. I'm having a small quick first fire with one ash split and two beech, that should get the basement temp to 79.

Before the high winds move in later today, I'll take some ashes out that will go in the garbage can.

9" of snow overnite. 30 deg , next up is a borderline rain or mixed crap event tonight then hopefully a melt tomorrow. Much better melting scenario then the 12" storm we had 6 Jan. which was followed by winds and very low temps(for us)...6am startup load of red white oak, and 1 hickory split has us at 71.

The basement temp started out at 77, with the temps up here 68 & 69. The wood stove has eight splits of beech in it for the overnight heat.

The outside temp tonight is 17.5, @Todd , keep those cold temps out there. Old @yooperdave sends us enough chit weather, pretty soon old @clancey will also be sending us some chitty weather.

I hope your wood pile in the house is stocked well........cold air is on the way!!! ;lol

It's in used condition, but should be just fine when it gets to you!!!!!

Send it south, from what I've been reading, their firewood inventory is very healthy and they "wood" welcome a few nights of -10 or below that.

I'd gladly have an excuse to run my stove hard for a bit.

19 degrees with a light breeze and snowing. No solar gains today. Struggling to raise the upstairs temperature. Full load of ash first thing this morning, then as it started to peter out added some shoulder season wood. Getting ready to put some more shoulder season wood again. Trying to keep the coal mountain under control. Going to get really cold again next week.
