We have an outside temp of 21.6 tonight, the basement started out at something (I never looked, 77 ?) the temps up here are 68 & 69. The wood stove has seven splits of beech hopefully heating the house overnight.

Congratulations to all you Eagle fans.

Just got home from a Super Bowl party. 12 degrees and calm, house is 66 upstairs and 69 downstairs. Scooped some ash and firing up the coals. Will be ash, birch, beech and sugar maple tonight. Colder stretch coming. High of 26 tomorrow which is the warmest day for about 10 days, single digits forecast most overnights.

Morning all. ☕️ home from work this am to find the cat just teetering on the active/inactive zone from yesterday mornings cherry, maple and oak load. I decided to have a spruce fire for today with one rouge stick of oak that found its way into my firewood cart. It got down to the mid teens last night with sunny and 32 expected today.

in the nwNC hills at the foot of the higher lands...

41F out rainy....

slumbering Grandpa Bear was jolted awake this morning...the pre-load of twigs, sticks, and limbs was lit off while the coffee fell....
070F stt up to 500F in about 7 minutes....seriously....

It burnt to a pile of coals by the time i poured a cup and went to reload.

Two Red Oak chunks, a white oak chunk, and two splits of Red Oak, and two of White Oak with some Oak Bark up front to get it over the stall since it had little coals to hold...

Raised the draft, it's rocking a steady 650F+ stt....

So, anyone get to STT that quick?

So I poked the Bear, and he's angry...house is already +5 from waking up...
He didn't notice the flurries mixed in the cold wind along the trees, by the river falls.

Been a bit from burning. Had my chimney swept. Things looked good after 1 2/3 cord. About a pint or so of powder. He went up Pipe from the tee with his camera and powder soot in snow was cap dislodging it in high winds or real hot burns. Everything normal. Good piece of mind. Load of oak and maple to get things going.

Welcome back!

Yesterday's 10.30 pm load is done. It was 34 max today, 29 now and going down to 19. Upstairs is 72.

I raked the coals to the front and added a split of spruce.

Been running on the HP for a week now. Cooling off now so we'll start a fire later today. They are talking 3 storms coming through this week with rain totals around 8".

Mud season is here.
Can't like that unless your area has been dry, I'd rather have snow.

27 now.
Red oak and one white oak split.

The outside temp tonight is 17.5, @Todd , keep those cold temps out there. Old @yooperdave sends us enough chit weather, pretty soon old @clancey will also be sending us some chitty weather.
