On my 3rd reload. Mix of oak, elm, ash and maple. 6 splits. STT 675. House staying at 75 main floor and upstairs 72. Very windy, outside temp 21. Going to 14.

NG delivery charges are crazy high. All over the Boston news today. Will reload later to keep the heat from calling which is set to 64.
RI is just as bad for electric and gas. $0.29kWh and almost $2 per therm delivered. Monopoly for natural gas. Most people have no choice. Glad I have my stove.

Makes me content with having no choice.
Well....burn wood or freeze is actually a choice, LOL.

12am and woke up on the couch with the GF on the other couch. Woke her up to go to bed. She doesn't want to budge. Slight chill in the house. Huge pile of coals in the dragon. The results of 2 good loads of premiums today/evening along with the rest of the days loads. The air was choked down. I opened it full and did the limit switch power interrupt trick while I made a cup of coffee. Tossed in a couple pieces of bark and a lone black ash stick while restoring power. Burning down the coals some to make room for an overnight load.

Currently 10* with a wind teaser of -19. With tomorrow's high forecasted to be 17*, I'm staying up for awhile before a load of premiums.

Went to bed around 2:30 this morning. Back up a little before 6. HUMONGOUS pile of hardwood coals. Chilly in the house with the driving winds. It was 9* with a wind chill of -18. Two small loads of small black ash splits have reduced the coals some while adding heat.
Looking forwards to this week being over.

Are we there yet?

State of Mass is trying to do something. See how that goes 🙄

Currently-13/-20. Woke up at 2:40 for a pit stop and threw some shoulder season wood on the huge pile of premiums that were done firing. Slept in a little bit and the house is cold... Dang it! I thought for sure the house would be warm.

Oh well, sunny again at least. Still a huge pile of coals so I shoved them off to the sides and stuffed it full - ash in the middle, shoulder season wood on the sides.

Aren't we all right now?🤣
True :) Happy to have the insert, lost power twice in the high winds yesterday, kept the blower going, as well as computer and my fridge, using old BYD LFP electric bus batteries hooked up to an old APC computer backup system. That setup has saved me a number of times over the years.

Oh yeah, on topic, I'm burning ash now.

That's cold....lol
I have a college buddy that moved to Regina chasing a girl and he asked how the heat wave was this morning. It's -44F there right now. Brrrrrrrr. It'll be warmer soon enough. -3F is going to feel great this afternoon while mixing feed for the cattle and doing other outside things.

Are you running a blast furnace??? !!!
It's a Crown Royal 7400MP so kind of. It's rated to burn straight coal but I usually do a mix when it's below -20F as it seems to extend burn times by a few hours. It's a shaker grate stove and works very well. It'll heat up 450gal of water from 170-180F in around 12 minutes.

The oak was done beyond being able to get the upstairs from its 67.8 to 70 at this point..so a reload of spruce with three pine splits.

18 outside with a wind chill of 9. Sunny tho.

I didn't need to take out any ashes so I have a fire going in the wood stove, cherry on the bottom row with the top row stuffed with beech splits and some beech limb wood.

I did go outside but the winds are howling pretty good so I did a few things in the garage (not really) and then came back inside. The snow blowing will have to wait until the winds get out of here.
