This could be a fun one to watch. It’s doing the thing where it’s running a little hotter than normal, but I can look in and see that the two lights have rolled towards each other and wedged themselves against the walls. All the claims have burned out from under them, so they are slightly suspended as if they were on a fire grate. It’s steady right now with the damper shut fairly tight,so I’m gonna have a Rye and watch this one a while before I lay down. If I see 800STT I’ll open the door and break the bridge. To set the splits on the ash again. Just curious to see if the damper keeps her inline.

Possibly the most full with three pieces I’ve seen this little guy. Loaded it at 9pm.

Once it caught in turned the damper to about 60% closed.

Ran up to 550 then went down to 515, but is now back on the rise.

House was 66 when I loaded it.

25 now with a low of 22.

Looks like it hit 655 in the flue and 700+STT and hovering. Flue 60% closed the whole time.

The warm fuzzy feeling when Tetris pays off! Both stoves running here. It’s not going to be that cold here but the house was 64 when I lit the first stove this morning.

I was hoping that full load and the damper closed would buy me some sleepy time. Had to toss in another spit at 3:30am because I woke up with the LP kicked in at 66*F

Now, the house is cold again and I’m loaded up again to beat the heat. The gas heat, that is.

I don’t mind 800+ when it’s 23 outside.

Shut the air down on the OAK inlet when it was 750 in the flue and 857 STT.

Finally I ended up scooping out the ashes and coals and loaded up for the night.

Two oaks and two pine to help them along since I pulled the coal bed out.

I’m approaching the point where I find loads after 10:30 pm or before 5:00 am are too much hassle. This is season number 7 for my sometimes undersized Jotul. Maybe it was having kido #5 but I’m just too tired to regularly push my stove that hard.

I can see that. Some of the luster is wearing off due to the burn times I get. It was advertised as 10 hrs. I’m in year three of a pretty hard run with it. 10 hrs isn’t even close to true for any meaningful heat output. It is fun and fine for the day when you are around to reload every 3-5 hrs, but I’m also getting past the point that it’s romantic to have to wrassle this thing at midnight and 3-4am.
I can load it full, choke it down and burn all night, but it’s still only 4-5 hrs of good heat. After that it will goals coals till morning but only be 200STT, and then a massive coal pile that has to be burned down or scooped out.
Thats why hanging on the wall beside my pin ups is a picture of a BK Sicorro 20.2🤣

Pine woks great for burning down the coals.

When it’s cold out it’s hard to keep the coals managed with this stove just because I’m oak heavy and only have a limited supply of pine.

What else I have found to work well lately is to just crack the door on a coal bed. The auto air control stays closed and even if I wedge it open, it doesn’t allow enough air to really burn up a coal bed and supply real heat.
After the last time I wedged the air control open and forgot about it, loaded it up and left, it burned a full stove with full air while I was gone I decided I wasn’t doing that anymore. Luckily nothing happened, but no telling how hot that got. Maybe the Auber knows, but I don’t know how to retrieve it.

Anyway, what I’ve been doing when I don’t have pine left on the porch is to just crack the door 1/2-3/4” and pull the coals to the front. A few cycles of raking the coals forward and letting a strong draft hit them will keep the stove pretty warm and eat the coal bed up when I need to reduce it.

With the door closed, this would be a 200stt and 230in the flue. Door cracked is 415 flue, 375stt.

There is a carbon monoxide detector in the room and one in the hall, but I also won’t load the stove and forget to pull the pencil out of the air control again if this is how I’m introducing additional air.

Pine works great but I’m running low on it, and we are in a cold snap for my location.
I have some pine drying and I have my eye in a coupe pines to get cut.

Keep pressing one of the buttons. My on my probe is 1250!

my upstairs stoves coals up when it gets cold and I don’t burn my pine. But at the end of the season it’s only a couple nights. Then this week came and I want a bigger stove.

An hour or two later, coals are burned down and it’s time to reload.

If I press the down button I get a solid red light at 783, and a flashing red light at 5054 for the max.

Not sure what the 5054 is, but if I roughly extrapolate what 783 would be STT, it’s all over if not just above 1000STT.

116 gallons this month on the LP monthly refill. I’d line to have a gas range, but for now, the furnace is all that is on the LP.
