Here you go guys! And checking, a Durafoil OEM cat sold by our dealer network should be $375.00 or less for all models. (plus shipping) I would encourage folks to call around.
Chris ,$430.00 plus tax my nearest BK dealer the one I bought my stove from,no way.I'll shop around.

Here is the BK steelcat. Durafoil. That is in my princess right now. It looks like a cross between the two that BKVP posted.

Not triangular. Not rolled.
Thanks for the pictures, looks surprising like the steel cat Condar shows on their website, still somewhat confused but not as much. If I can find a BK dealer that will come in pricewise at or near what BKVP quoted I'm good to go.

My dura foil picture got smashed in sizing to the PDF. Thank you Highbeam....yours is Durafoil.

Another point here, dealers can purchase, just as consumers from many sources. If you want the OEM cat, ceramic or stainless, ask for it. You can also ask the dealer to have it drop shipped to you right from our shelves.

You should...keep in mind dealers have other sources besides us.

Not to jump in, but I'm jumping in... Looked up my Jotul Firelight on the Woodstovescombuster provided above and see Condar Co offers the expanding gasket that I have read is not ideal. So confusing. Come to this website for definitive information and sometimes...
Yes, the Condar Steelcat for the Jotul Firelight is diesel foil. I recognized it the second I saw BKVP's posted images. I have had more than one of those Condar SteelCats fail in my Jotul firelights, and therefore would not use them.

If I were still running my Firelights today, I think I'd be buying Condar ceramic cats, pulling out that stupid expanding gasket (cost me two refractory chambers at $500/ea.), and re-packing the can with fiberglass stove gasket. Of course, I ultimately found a better plan... replacing them with Blaze King Ashford 30's.

Condar buys the ceramics from Applied Ceramics. Try www.firecatcombustors.com as they are the original manufacturer and have a excellent product! Their proprietary precious metals application is why we offer a 10 year warranty!

Anyone have an idea where a steel combustor can be bought at a reasonable price, like wholesale?Probably not but i'm still trying.

Chris do they make a steel combustor,BK dealers near me are at over $400.00 plus tax, seems a little steep.

FWIW, the metal can on the two ceramic cats from Applied Ceramics cats I purchased for my Jotuls failed in a matter of weeks/months, whereas I never had that problem with the Condars. I was surprised, and I guess there's always a chance it was operator error, but I just didn't see the same type of metal can failures on the Condars.

I would suggest using a local dealer...however, some consumers do call dealers in states without sales tax. Food for thought.

Chris,I've got a dealer new one for the most part,Tim,you know him about 40 minutes from me,I'll just get the cat from him his price is one, I can live with,I've dealt with him before on other products seems a fair guy.

http://www.firecatcombustors.com/ACI-20C-p/wa-4152000416.htm. From the picture, doesn't appear this cat has a gasket?

I have a 6:00 a.m. PST Conference call with their management . I will confirm this but I have been told in the past the gasket is included.

CONFIRMED. Gasket is taped down to the combustor when it ships from their company.

In the picture it looks like the gasket is on it, just taped down tight. The gasket is colorful like carpet pad and also similar to the backdrop of that photograph.

but on the princess cat:

They call out "with gasket wrap" and you can more easily see it in the photo. Funny that the photo shows two cats. Wonder if you get two.

On that firecat site you can see why Woodstock combustors are so cheap. They're really small. The BKs use big cats, at least double the size, with lots of catalyst material so they cost twice as much.

I think some here thought you were talking about the BK combustor, but here you're showing the cat used in the Jotul Firelight.

Yes, that cat has a gasket between the metal "can" and the ceramic brick. When it gets hot, it expands, causing the can to bulge in the middle. I think this concept and material was developed for stoves with less easily damaged catalytic combustor housings or retainers, but it will cause your cat chamber cover ($70) to bifurcate itself on the knife edge that makes up the cover retainer on the Jotul Firelight. If you're real unlucky, can even push apart your cat chamber ($400). Somewhere on this forum, a few years back, I think I even posted pictures of one or two of those cats that had bulged and caused damage to my stoves. Others on this forum have had the same problem with that combustor assembly, which is why some have taken to removing the gasket and reassembling their own.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled BK cat combustor thread.

Something isn't quite right about the sizing on that site. Can you please measure the size of your BK combustor and post it here. The size they list for the Fireview cat is not correct, let me measure mine and post actual size.
