Pedestal or legs? Which do you prefer?

Sure, now, if god believed legs were best, she would not have created, or even allowed the existance of Danish Modern design. Pedestal all the way for me. Legs make stoves look bowlegged (I feel really important when I make absolute statements). Gots to go eat now so I will not see the flames, insults and condemnations coming my way. >:-(
However, I do believe ash drawers are close to useless. One of these days I should look into the cavity of my Spectrum just to see what is in there. ;-) John_M

No choice . . . the stove I wanted came with legs . . . and a functional pan for the ash to boot. Legs and ash . . . does it get any better?

No condemnations from me my friend. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc. etc. That's why I asked the question "Which do you prefer" rather than making an absolute statement like "Pedestals are ugly and I know you all agree!!" ; ) Lol!!

I notice no one uses the space under their stove. We start all our garden plants from our own seed. The problem is some peppers etc need lots of warn temps to get started. We put flats under the stove and they start really fast. If we get a dip intemp where I have to run the stove really hot we will just slide the flats out a way until the stove cools down a bit. This is an advantage of legs and a stove with ember only clearances underneath.

The question I have is - what to do with the pedestal that came off my 30? Is there a market for these that I could sell it? Sounds like most people use the legs anyway.
Thoughts? I'll take this moment to plug myself - $100 for a brand new pedestal for an Englander 30 if anyone wants it...

That's interesting, I love the ash drawer on the little CFM. It's much bigger (at least compared to firebox) than the one on Englander.
I have pedestals on both of my stoves, but the Englander is in the basement so looks aren't that important.

I was considering purchasing a pedestal for my stove because it would raise it an extra 5 inches more than the legs. This might help in loading the stove. plus you could see more of the nice flames dancing around rather than looking down on a short stove.
Lopi answer. Pedestals looks better on plate stoves. Soapstone and cast looks better on legs . Come to think of it I never seen a soapstone or cast stove with a pedestal base.

For the record, my Summit has a pedestal base. I like the look of the pedestal on most steel units. You also don't get dust bunnies and woodchips lying around under the stove with a pedestal like you do w/ legs.
i built the hearth with rock from around the house and there is no way i could own a pedastal...
