^me neither...usually other people get nervous when they see all the wood I got.

Even this softwood burner is not nervous,,
Inventory= 4 cords cedar slabs, heh,heh, and 5 cords of maple, and 5 cords of douglas fir. hmm, bout enough for about 2 seasons. Unless we get the kind of winters that you guys experience way,way, back east. brrrrr ;-P

I used 3.75 cord last year burning 24/7. I tend to go into "nesting" in the fall and stock as much as I can into the pantry and freezer. Well, same goes for wood....I dont like to run "close" to what I should use in a year....so I have 13 cords split, stacked and ready to go :D

30 logs left in the yard to cut- will probably make them into cords for the woodstove-
unless they are too big- then I will make Tiki's and Totems out of them.

Not nervous at all. Have 4 cord ready to go. Also in the process of aquiring more when ever I can get my hands on it for next season.
My house is small, basically 1300sqft and heat about 1200sqft. I also use oil twice a day, once in the early am before I get up and once just before we walk in the door. Programmable thermostat is a must.
Nah, we ain't nervous...You get a hot enough bed of coals 3" or more and you can burn whale sh**. No kidding, I've done it for years
I can't say I'm really "nervous" because I have other reasonably priced heating alternatives. I have plenty of wood for next year, but I don't have all that much for this year. I need to find some standing dead wood and get it split soon so I'll have some more on hand for this year.
thats what I did. I bet I ahve one cord of it that I plan on burning in the early season/late fall
I just got a bunch of white pine logs...as much as I want for free...so i keep this stuff in case hell freezes over.....Of coarse the guy i got the wood from is borrowing my chain saw, even though i sold him my old one. He is of the opinion that when the chain is dull, just borrow a chainsaw that has a sharp chain. After all It does cost $5 to have a chain sharpened around here and $20 for a new oregon 20" chain
nah, not really nervous. I'm getting the last of the first 3 cords stacked (will it EVER stop raining????????), hopefully in time for the 3 cords of seasoned wood I have coming in September.
Nervous? Uhhh... Yeah... a little bit. Reason being; this is my first year with a wood burning stove. I've been told that 4 cords should get me through the season trying to heat a 1950 sq ft house with a Woodstock Fireview. BUT... since I'm so new to this, I'm sure they'll be some trial and error along with the fact that the wood I'm purchasing as been cut and split around Thanksgiving 2007. So I don't know how burnable and efficient it will be. The wood dealer said it should burn great but who can you trust these days. I think I'm going to purchase a moisture meter to see how seasoned it actually is. WISH ME LUCK!!

I am lucky to get 6 months of dry time for mine and I have never had a problem. Its all dependant on conditions not as much on the length of time. If you stack your wood in the same way that I stack mine but yours is behind a building and in continuous shade and mine is in an open field with continuous sun and wind, then mine is going to dry at a much faster rate than yours.
I should be in great shape for this year and two more maybe. I have 20+ face cords and I only go through 6 to 7 tops. I should be getting a hell of a lot more wood a soon as my next door neighbor gets a couple pin cherries cut down. Oh, every time I see those weakened trees in his back yard I think of seasoned, nicely stacked wood in my yard :lol:
Kevin, this year at the end of February I noticed I was low on firewood (I was just using the FP). I called my "wood dude", he was in Florida, but would have the "guys" bring me a cord.
They pulled all the wood while John was on vacation fron the FRONT of the yard, it used less gas in the truck :ahhh:
Yep, craptastic wood.

Now, it's sitting aimed towards the back door. It's going to be the "main stay" of my early fires

Per my usual, I refuse to turn on heat or start a fire till late-late November, unless I have company over.
It seems to always work out one way or another, right?
Last year I had terribly soaked wood with frozen waterfalls on a big portion of my pile and managed still.
This, year though yes, I am extra nervous.

I sure do like my small house, 1000sq.ft. and 24/7, we only go through 2 cords a year, and usually a cord and 1/3 of that are cottonwood.
I was a little nervous with only 2 cords prepared and a "promise" for 2 more. Well, I just got the call, and the promise will be fulfilled today. 2 cords of seasoned hardwood should be waiting in the yard when i get home from work! Good price too. That'll give me four, and I plan on using 3. The only question is how seasoned it will be. Of course it will be raining.....
