Thank you , between 2 and 3 is about as low as I can go as well. I hear everyone running so low was concerned something was wrong. Recently cleaned the combustor and have been getting much better extended burns prior to that last few burns were about 4 hours and had to run stove real hot to keep cat active. Chimney is on exterior wall of house house and about 30' tall

That is why a lot of people here won’t show you there low burn set point. Every install is different and that point won’t be the same for everyone. What ends up being close to the same is the active cat time but your 12 hour burn mark might be between 2-3 o’clock and someone else could be 3-4. Too many factors play into it.

Added a digital temp gauge to my ashford last night. We will see how it goes.

That’s not where it’s staying. I was also playing with a manometer or whatever it is to check draft and it was easy to glance up and look at it there.

Ordered a BK Princess yesterday. They said three weeks or more to get it....

Ordered the satin door and satin trim for the surround and now they are telling me the satin trim on the surround is no longer available. Trying to make it look a little better with the satin trim. Wondering if BKVP has any surrounds with satin trim laying around he could put on my order??

At least we will get some use out of it this year yet hopefully.

Are you guys getting outside air kits for these stoves?

This is a new construction house that will be extremely well insulated. Toying with the idea of spray foaming the room where the stove will sit. Waste of time and money? Ducted heat pump will move air around the house.

Code requires me to insulate ceiling to R-38 and walls to R-21.

Not sure i’m Following your question. Heat will move from room to room via ducts with forced air, correct?

That's the building envelope. Why insulate the stove room?

Given the extreme cold of the winter hurricane we recently experienced, having the stove room insulated makes sense.
If the power goes out, retreating to a better insulated stove room might be the difference in a life or death situation.

Is that reading stove top temps? I want to get a thermometer to have something more accurate then the non active / active dial we have , just not sure what to get and where it would be best to place

No it’s for combustor temps. It replaced the one that comes with the insert.

I dont think I misunderstood what was typed. Which was asking about spray foaming the room the stove is in. Maybe it was mistyped. Spray foam is insulation.

But I would do an OAK in a tight house, yes.

People are often very literal here. When you said that you spray foamed the room they assumed you meant all 6 sides of the room. Instead, you probably meant the exterior walls only.

Absolutely. It is always a superior install to use outside air for combustion. In fact, it is often required as it was for my installation. I used air from my ventilated crawlspace. Very happy with it. Also, blaze kings take 100% of their combustion air from the outside air kit nipple. This is not common, the silly stove in front of me now has 4 air inlets and only one of them is fed by the outside air connection.

I swear my wood shed can predict the weather, I just randomly throw splits in it, during the first two big cold outbreaks I was hitting nothing but oak and locust splits, now the cold air moderating and I have more maple and cherry splits coming out of the stacks... I'm just laughing about it, last year the same thing happened.
Judging by my stacks, we are do for another cold snap mid to end feb, theres a solid row of oak in there.

Can somebody help me out here. Where is a good place to buy a cat gasket for sirroco 30.1. I called my dealer and he told me expect to wait a month to get one through them unless I want to pay an absurd amount on shipping. He also said hed look more Into it this was beginning middle of last week and havnt heard back.

Google firecat combustors. They ship pretty quick, and sell by the foot. Figure on about 30" per use. I just Buy 10' every few years. U need 2" gasket.
