As I was outside running my diesel tractor, gas powered wood splitter and splitting firewood to burn I thought to myself.....it's not worth the aggravation. Let it go. So after a couple more posts today and reading a few posters bash those who don't agree with their opinion, I'm checking out of this thread! Good luck with your EVs everyone, hope they last a lifetime!

I'd venture to guess the same people pushing for EVs and blasting those who wish to either drive an ICE vehicle or also have the option to purchase and EV, are the same people who pointed fingers at those who didn't get a certain vaccine in the last couple of years and called them all sorts of names and were ready to blame them for the end of society.

Very ironic this is a website about burning firewood, yet seems to lean way to the left...
It's very ironic that some people make things like those you mentioned political when there is absolutely no reason for them to be. Then complain about everything being political

I honestly hadn't seen anyone bashing anyone else.

I apologize that this apolitical woodstove forum is not the echo chamber that you thought it would be and heaven forbid someone have a differing opinion than you.

Congratulations on splitting up some more wood to heat up you and your loved ones. No one on this forum is going to get mad about the means on how you acquired or processed.

Exactly just think about how much less oil is used processing that wood than would have been heating the house with oil.

If this sort of nonsensical bickering continues, this board is doomed.
Not a chance. If you made a post about anything else looking for help I would do by best to be of assistance! Just because I don’t agree with the EV crowd in this thread it does not mean I would turn my back on anyone on this forum I disagreed with regarding this particular subject.

Yes and for the most part we have all been respectful. We can disagree without being nasty

Agreed. Discussion too often gets mired down in culture wars these days. We're all in this together.

I too am checking out if this discussion.
I live in a state where the majority swears ev cars and trucks will solve all our issues and ICE vehicles will be banned by 2028.
That logic seems vastly uneducated and silly since I'm a power grid engineer and know we can't support thst movement. It's why I live off grid.
I'll stick to stove discussions where politics aren't as silly.
Good luck with your ev cars and when the grid crashes I hope you have good cardio.

To the mileage tax, how would they ever get an accurate mileage from people?

Also, I’d love to get an EV but for a daily I need a fullsize pickup. The Ford Lightning is far too expensive, as are a lot of other EV’s. Also, when it comes to buying used for EV’s, I doubt you’d be able to buy one that’s 20 years old on the original battery and still has years of life left in it like you could with an ICE.

Yearly safety inspection they record the mileage anyway. Just another thing to report to the state.

by 2035 everyone must be selling all electric cars or trucks

Someone will have a difficult job to do to explain to me how what used to be a 20 minute trip in my Chevy Sonic is now a 1 hour trip in my Chevy Bolt EV. In fact, it is still a 20 minute trip in my Chevy Bolt, and I'm not cold in the winter doing it. It just costs me 1/4 as much to get there now compared to a gasoline powered vehicle..

If you live in a place where roads never get shut down due to road conditions in blizzards or icing events (regardless if it is due to snow/ice or due to accidents) and/or, there are bypass roads nearby that you can use and are in decent shape, that is great.

I literally have to go 20 miles out of my way if a road is closed due to inclement weather. I tried back roads once that I knew pretty well and that was a nightmare and took even more time than if I had just bitten the bullet and taken the route that uses main-ish roads. Even when roads aren't closed, I have taken 2+ hours to get home for what was normally a 45 minute drive for 30 miles because tractor trailers couldn't make it up a small icy incline and there is no way around (that is feasible). I've had to take the long way becuase of flooding and tree down events.

No but it's been required atleast 30 years now. My guess is just to give them another data point. It also eliminates odometer fraud
they do this so if you travel less than a certain mileage they give you a certain amount of money off your premium i think it is 6000 miles and 25% off. i'm doing this now with my vehicles

90s, I had a Jeeg Nikko, excellent electric car 😉

Yeah, but looks like the resale value is terrible, down to $40 on Ebay. ;lol

And have you heard about the Nickel mining used to make those batteries? ;hm

does anyone know how much to switch out old cell for new one?and average length of time they last
That varies greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer at this point. But give it a little time and that will be much cheaper and there will be many more people working on battery packs
