We had a low of minus 5.1 this morning, the wood stove was loaded up after the first cup of coffee with five splits of beech and three splits of birch.

I didn't have an overnight fire so the furnace supplied the heat overnight.

Some black ash, cherry and pine this morning. It's up to 7 already here in the Northwoods. This will probably be the only load for the day because we're heading home later, but it will be sunny and about 30.
They're forecasting a low of minus 13 tonight for our area, hopefully this is the last of this chit.

15 degrees this morning with wind chill very close to 0. Came home, cleaned out some ash and gave it a full load of oak and maple. Cold today through Monday night and that looks like it may be the last of it per the long range forecast.

The remnants of the big maple piece didn't provide enough heat anymore.
20 outside, 69 upstairs. 32 forecast for the high.
A reload with spruce.

The spruce is all gone.
Outside is 27 going down to 17. Upstairs is 71.
I reloaded with red oak and pitch pine (I hadn't brought in enough oak to fill the box).

Just reloaded with oak for the evening burn. Going to 14 tonight. 71 upstairs and main floor 75. Should keep the house warm until early morning. Will cold start when I get up.

4 red oak splits and 1 cherry split. 19 outside. 69 inside temp. Will be burning today and tonight. Going to 50’s midweek so back to mini split if needed.

Buckthorn today. Other than a few pieces of seasoned ash that I am mostly reserving for cooking with on my Solo, I am at the point where I am cutting wood and it goes directly in the insert. This is the largest buckthorn I have ever harvested. The top 2/3 is still in the woods since I was tuckered out after carrying this 70lb chunk of trunk out of the woods through the deep snow. I'll have to go back for the rest. Not sure if my moisture reader is broken but single digits when I cut down this tree today is wild. The odd looking cuts are because my mitre saw isn't big enough to get it all on one pass. Great firewood! Smells medicinal when you burn it but it has probably provided 30% of the BTUs in my house over the last few years.

I’m surprised it’s ready to burn. My buddy cuts Ash in Maine and burns it the same year and it’s still not seasoned.
Its not, look closely at the picture from the moisture meter, pins aren't sunk into the wood at all.

3rd shoulder season load of the day is winding down, house is finally up to temperature. Cloudy, rainy and 41 degrees outside. Now it can just sit and simmer until the house temperature starts to drop. We'll see if another shoulder season load is needed later or if I can wait and just load for the overnight...
