Full shoulder season load went in almost 2 hours ago. That ash load this afternoon was disappointing, but I suspect I should have let it char longer. Warmer weather, smaller load on weak coals. First load with those conditions with my secondary air hole partially blocked. The shoulder season load I am cruising with the air a little more open than I have been, so the warm weather is more than offsetting the increased winds. Wonder what the overnight load is going to do...?

Tonight’s load in, some oak and maple. A bit of spruce coals left from this am to kick it off.

When we woke up this morning the temp was 5.4, when I went out to plow it was 3. We did get 6 inches of snow overnight with another 6 to 9 coming in tonight.

This morning we started burning firewood again, the first load was a mixture of maple and beech.

24 and a half hour later, a reload with some crotch wood. Odd shapes, shorter than the box is long, so not a full load.

The high was 40 today, sunny but very windy.
Now 32 going down to 29.
70 upstairs.

Averaged mixed hardwoods loads in the dragon. 3rd load today. One in the morning a nd 2 after work. I'm sure she's hungry again. The dragon can wait in her lair for the overnight load of premiums.

Dozed off for a bit before the overnight's meal. The dragon is hungerly devouring splits, all various sizes, of beech, red oak, black and honey locusts. This is more like an appetizer in prelude to the main course due in an hour of so. Will consist of many of the same premiums. Possibly some white oak as well.

Mixed hardwoods in the wife’s overnight load, I got home to a fair coal bed and warm home. I topped off the wood racks and then started up some spruce splits to carry us through the day, they took off like a screen door in a hurricane.

Cold front (fropa) coming in hot this afternoon according to the weather guessers along with some squalls and maybe thunder? Seems like an interesting afternoon.

It's 49 now (...). I am due for a reload after 6 pm last night, but I'm letting it go. Tonight will be 21, though, so at the end of the afternoon I'll either revive the coals or have a cold-ish start

Found 3 glowing coals of 1.5", and a few black pieces.
Some wood shop trash, some bark, and a hand full of noodles and we're back in business.

Small fire this morning to get the chill out, got to 55 here with wind, now 44 heading for 27 so they say. Ground hasn't thawed, plenty snow left, hoping the warm-ish rain Friday washes this crap away and gets the frost out of the ground. Loaded up a smallish restart load of oak and hickory as the family/woodstove room got all the way down to 71. For some reason these old bones get cold around sunset....

36 and windy outside, a forecast low of 23.
Upstairs it's 71, and there's some fresh 4.5+ year old oak in the stove.
Some knots and crotches again, so quite some air between them in the back.

Full load of oak and maple tonight. Very windy with a forecasted low of 17, low single digit wind chills near morning. Can really hear that draft with the door open on the stove tonight with that wind.

The overnight feast will consist of R & W oaks, B locust, and maybe beech. Not enough left of that in the lair. May hang on to it a bit longer. Have more beech outside. Would like to leave all I have out there for next season, except for the remnants of splitter fest 2024. Still have one more half cord of it.
