Well I got delayed cutting apple kindling…my box of long pieces was empty and I needed tiny twigs

Nevertheless loaded up with the usual
Oak/chestnut/elm with Poplar/oak/elm/ apple kindling

I should also share that I have noticed that 5mins of hairdryer preheat of flue gives me no smoke leaking in the house while igniting the twigs with the butane torch. I have found that less preheating gives me more smoke leakage. Obviously how dry the fuel is is a determining factor

Sick overnight. Finally just made my first fire. 5 aspen and 1 ash. Will probably fall asleep on the floor...
Hopefully you won't get what I had, it took me 20 plus days before I was near 100 percent.

Lots of OJ brother. Hammer it!
Vitamin D is great too. Build up that immune system. Oh, another is apple cider vinegar, if you can stand it. Get the good stuff.....Brags.

5 ash, 1 beech tonight. Not a full load but I need to get back to bed right after the countdown to midnight. I'm feeling somewhat better, so we'll see how long it lasts. I suspect something I ate yesterday did it and is just going to take a little time and pepto getting out of the system.

Stove was idled Sunday and Monday with 60s and sun. Burned a small load yesterday morning but temps rose to 59 with sun so no more loads. THEN around 7p we had a strong line of storms with the worst hail(pea size +) in years. Way too many close lightning strikes but thankfully no severe winds with the bow line of storms. No power outages. 44 this morning with a wind that will usher in some real cold air (for MD) and a chance of a snow storm Monday. Spent the last couple days stocking the garage wood rack with good stuff. Happy New Year.

King is still chewing on the oak load from 5:45 yesterday am. Cat in the active zone, house at 70. There’s probably enough coaling to maintain house temps til around noon. It’s fairly mild today with highs in the 40s and cloudy after a line of T-storms rolled through around midnight.. low around freezing tonight we will see what I decide to load when the time gets closer.

Happy new years to all my fellow wood burners! 🥳

Last night was burning a few small splits at a time just to keep the stove warm. A big chunk of beech and a branch smoldered all nightjust for the embers this morning. Woke up to 38 and that'll be today's high. A few pine limbs now to get the smut off the glass.

Happy New Year y'all. Stay warm.

Looking like from here on out the stoves gonna be cranking. The 10 day forecast has today as the warmest at 47 and the rest in the 30s or 20s. The 32 is fired up with some oak and sassafras right now will be chugging along for the foreseeable future

51 for the high today, 41 now, decreasing to 35 for r the overnight low. Quite windy.
Started the stove around 3 pm with two pine splits and some branches. Reload now with a mix of pine splits and oak shorties, and a cherry cookie.
Poor filling of the box.
