So I made this
[Hearth.com] What Is In Your Stove Right Now?

Siberian Elm split in front bottom
White oak bottom back
Bone Dry rotten oak and hazel in the middle
Poplar (bone dry) shavings made with my block plane
And all the twigs on top are apple

I’ve seen others using plane shavings and thought I’d try it myself…works great, BUT, you need a lot!

The cat is thinking "what are you waiting for??!"
That Jupiter is a huge feline (over 13Lbs) and he's just enormous, not fat...huge bone structure

he is a full blown racist...he gets along fine with my cream tabby and newcomer stripey Anika

but he wants to kill our black cat

The reason I posted that photo of Jupiter is because my previous fire -worshipping feline, Fif, whom I have posted a lot of photos of, passed away this past May...Jupe seems to have taken up the mantel

Does that Panadero not have secondary burners?
I don’t know what that means 😬

***edit…ok, I looked up secondary burn functionality

This Délice/Dover claims a 77% efficiency

I think the design of air intake in the bottom (with door closed) and the deflector fins hold gasses in the top of the stove. Further, I noticed the flue pipe outlet is greatly obstructed by the rear fin and I suppose impede gasses passing so they stay longer in the stove

But I’m guessing…I don’t know if it’s any more. Implicates than that

Glass is very clean, air intake is set waaaaaay down to about 5%

But it is howling, blizzard-ish wind, so draw is quite strong

RealFeel says -12C

Currently in the stove is
White Oak/Siberian Elm/ Poplar on the right (I have a bit of poplar left over and some of the shapes are stack breakers). This is all wood from my property currently…the stuff I buy in isn’t cured long enough afaiac and causes me issues.

Update.... last night, I started that fire that I thought would be just to add a bit of warmth in natural convection.
While I had the top down fire started with just a couple splits on the bottom, I put the fan limit switch in manual mode. I started fiddling with the wires and found a loose connection. The blower fired up! Added more splits for a hotter fire than planned. Redid the electrical connection after pulling the fuse. Once done, put the fuse back in with limit switch on auto. Couple minutes after, the furnace started doing it's usual run cycles. What a relief.

Don't recall what I had in the furnace last night but had some nice coals about 10am. Added some sugar maple, couple soft maple, and a round of black cherry. Nasty wet cold set in today. Damp chill that would soak into the bones. So glad the furnace is GTG.

First fire. Barely defensible with my "rule" of no fires unless temps are below 45 for 24 hrs or more. 39 tonight, 46 tomorrow, 40 tomorrow night.
But windy, rain, clouds - so no solar gain and more heat loss.

Aka I needed a fire...

Three 7" maple splits e/w on the bottom (slightly too large for n/s), a few oak shorties, a pine ugly, and some splitter trash to light it all up.

Some branch wood, small and medium sizes,1 split, and a couple shorties. All Doing a good job driving away the wind and rain chill outside. Feels good in here.

Helps drying out the dogs too. And their wet towel above the stove.

well, I'm lettin it go out...0300 CET here
last embers burning off over the next hour
time to get some shut eye

start anew again tomorrow
I've been doing overnight burns the last couple years
daily starts I'm not looking forward to...oh well

We have an outside temp of 38.5 tonight, the basement temp is 79 with the temps up here 70 & 72. I did have a fire earlier with some pine, the last I looked there was still some coals.

I'll have an overnight fire, I'll load the Liberty up with pine.

Temps in the high 30s tonight. Still damp and chilly out with a dusting of wet snow. Looking forward to spring .... LOL
Been burning mostly ash with a couple birch splits, in small batches throughout the day.

Well, not as easy a start as yesterday…
Started with S Elm / Oak/ Poplar with poplar shavings and apple twigs

Now, 2nd reload is 1 Ash/ 2 Oak
