Some oak and cherry this morning.

Last night the overnight fire was 5 splits of cherry, I'm not sure what temp the basement was this morning (72 ?) up here the temps were 69 & 70. The outside temp was 38.7 before coffee.

I helped the wife with a few things so the first fire was started later than usual, more pine.

Bit of nail free clean pallet wood from the t6 packaging to get going this morning. 4 splits of birch and 2 small hemlock pieces. Air at halfway closed with a nice secondary burn going. STT, 400f. Getting to know this stove a bit more but so far very intuitive.

0deg c outside and foggy, just started raining and wet snow.

Can someone comment how to load a picture? It opens my camera but I cant take a picture. Do I need to be an upgraded member or something?

Hopefully there's something in this link that will help you.

This is another link about uploading pictures, for some reason when I post it doesn't show on my laptop. This one finally did.

mostly elm broiling on a bed of oak/ ash/ elm

RealFeel says -7C / 19F
it is cold anywhere away from the wood stove

sadly I'm gonna let it go out...and deal with another start tomorrow...I've really gone off of overnight burns...I'd rather be cold than fret about fire safety

Earlier today I added two long maple splits that had to go e/w to string the stove along until the evening reload.
This is what is left now; too early for reloading.

But nice to sit in front ...

I’m jealous. I’m sitting in my family room with a mini split blowing on me and a cold stove in back of me 😂

Yeah, I know.
I saw folks here burning all month and had the minisplit on. This (yesterday early evening) was the first fire of the year. Happy as a clam...

Reload with oak shorties courtesy of tropical storm Isaias back in 2020.

It's 36.7 tonight, the basement temp started out at 72 with the temps up here 70 & 71. The overnight load has cherry with 2 splits of pine going for the overnight heat.

snow starting to melt...yet waaaaaay slower than expected
tomorrow outside is forecast for 17C / 62F! A massive swing

pretty cold in the "house" this am
14C / 57F in the main part of the house with elec rads on wifi switches
10C / 50F in the kitchen
3C / 37F in the veranda and workshop

with cold ashes in the wood burner
I gonna light it in the next hour or two
...it's just so much effort as my install is

40 on the nose this morning. House 64 downstairs. Quick fire with Oak and maple to warm up the house. STT 650. Back to mini splits later today. Rain and 40’s.

I might have the rear opportunity to do a hot reload today since I will actually be around so I decided to make good morning fire a bit smaller just three big chunks of maple with a bunch of stuff on top to get her going.

Yahoo sez 7C but RealFeel is -1C and it is typically 2 degrees colder chez moi than in the village. My mercury says 3-ish and snow melt is very slow

So sub 60 through out the “house”…friends coming over…had to be done
[Hearth.com] What Is In Your Stove Right Now?

Ash / hazel/ oak on the bottom;
Elm/ oak / apple in the middle
Split poplar and apple twigs on top for lighting

Missus returned from the store with:

Campingaz is the cheapo brand every store around here carries…just junk most of it and this needed continuous re-lighting while lighting the stove, but frankly worked well. I prefer to use only wood and matches or a lighter to start a candle, but tried the blow torch and it did help move things into flames with minimal smoke.

We finally got that rain on Thursday. About 3/4” of rain followed by 7” of snow Thursday into Friday. The wildfires in our area are finally 100% contained.

Cooler weather is here now so the Apex is getting 2 loads a day. Just using a mix of 3+ year old hardwoods, maple, walnut, and chestnut. The real cold weather isn’t really here yet so no need for the full load of oak/hickory.

We had a low of 36 this morning, at 10 this morning the basement temp was 70 with the temps up here 68 & 69. Another shoulder season fire is going in the Liberty.

Yahoo says 10C / 50F
RealFeel is 3C / 37F

My outdoor mercury sez 7C / 44F

Snow almost gone…but who knows, it’s dark out

Currently keeping my LR around 19C
Everywhere else is about 15C

Mostly continuing to load S Elm and Oak with the occasional poplar chunk

We won’t need a fire tomorrow

Minisplit again tonight. Had put in three pine splits at 3 or so to run high to clean up the firebox and burn down the oak shorties coals before any possible draft reversal.

Likely no fire until Thursday late.
