My parents (80+) had a hand-"rotated" (?) coffee grinder that they had gotten from their grand parents.
I thought you were milling your grains with (a more modern version of) something like that.

Those still exist! Lehman’s has a bunch of those. There are electrified versions too. They can be surprisingly expensive!

I just started this journey. I wasn’t sure I’d like it. I didn’t want to drop hundreds of dollars on what might become shelf art in the basement. $37 was in the play money budget incase I hated doing it. When this wears out, I don’t think I’ll get an impact grinder like I have now, but I’ll get something better quality.

The trade off with the eventual upgrade will be a more involved cleanup. Right now, all I have to do is use a small brush to dust out the residue. I don’t even wipe it down with a cloth. I imagine that grinding discs or stones will require disassembly at some point. But the machine is noisy! If I used it more than a 30 second burst I’d probably have ear protection hanging on a wall hook somewhere. I currently can process 2 cups of berries at a time. I can get 5 cups of finished flour in 2 batches and it takes me maybe 3 minutes start to last dump out from the machine. It meets my needs.

Not that 206 is heavy for me but I've been stuck at that weight for two days so today I increased my treadmill sessions from two to three a day.

@EatenByLimestone, the bread looks good.

I just made 2 cups of garlic butter for the bread. I don’t think it’s going to last long, lol.

Went for a ride today and ate a salad. I think I’m done with the “bulking” phase and ready to get ripped.

Then I made loaded potato soup with sweet Italian sausage for supper.

I almost made 205, this morning the scales said 205.2. I'll give myself until the end of January for my goal of 202.

This morning my weight was 204, hopefully I can drop a few more pounds before Sunday morning. The 3 sessions a day on the treadmill have the legs feeling pretty good, 15 plus minutes per session, 0.75 of a mile per session with 92 plus calories burned per. It's not a long session but it's doing the trick.

I’m not back in full swing by no means, but I’m steadily down 5 lbs to 220 now for a few days just by slowing the eating machine down. I don’t even really mean dieting, as much as just not being a glutton.

Slow and steady has been my thing. It'll make it be a habit rather than an action that can easily be stopped.

176 last time I measured.

Really happy to see the progress everyone! I am down 5lbs. I started to cut my beer intake and only drink what I brew myself. Obviously not cutting, but at least I put in work to enjoy it. Other than that I have been really taking it slow. My wife and I have been struggling with GERD, potentially either caused or irritated by realizing our well water was super acidic. Previous owners did not address that issue. Anyway, back on topic, the reason I have been struggling to lose weight is it seems like just ingesting bread helps with the reflux! LOL

202.2 this morning.

You gonna do it arn’t you?
199 this morning, the snowblower workout yesterday was my exercise. I had thought tomorrow morning was my last day but Friday morning will be my last day, after that, I'll stay in a five pound range from my weight.

Tomorrow I'll make some New England Clam Chowder, I think that makes 11 soups I made and the wife made 1 for a total of 12 for National Soup Month.

I had loosened my belt, but today I actually tightened it.
My new favorite salad dressing is just runny eggs. Try a chicken, or salmon salad with no dressing, add runny eggs and salt and pepper.
It adds the salty fatty thing you want without the artificial and sugars.

No egg here, but I tried an Afghan restaurant tonight. Amazing Salmon.

Great job. Thats the first time in sub-200 since?

And how come I didn’t know it was soup month?

I figured I’d update on my cake diet. 199.6 this morning. I think I was at 202 or something a couple weeks ago.

Here’s the last remnants of a loaf of rye that I cooked. I added a bit too much water to it. It’s super moist, but a bit crumbly.

I measured yesterday, and I was 3 lbs below what I had aimed for. That has not happened before...

well, my wife said earlier "no more", and I intended to just stay where I was. So somehow the slow and steady (sounds like a BK burner... ;-) ) approach made new habits so normal that I now have to pay attention not to get too low (173 now, and I'm 6'3" - I was 6'4", but ... age?).

So now I have to pay attention to both directions of change ... :-(

I think it was three years ago, maybe four. I think that I posted about National Soup Month, that helped me keep the weight down with the treadmill.

I was going to make a New England Clam Chowder soup today but that changed when the boss wanted something else. Just some broth, beans, sausage, onions, carrots, garlic and celery.

I only did two sessions on the treadmill today, I don't feel like I'll beat the 199.4, especially after two bowls of soup.....I did stay away from the bread.

The old treadmill did the trick with the sounds of ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Pat Benatar, Simon & Garfunkel, Canned Heat, Dean Martin with some Frank Sinatra. I started out with Frank & Dean but once I increased my speeds on the treadmill, it was all rock.

I was just under 200 this morning, 199.8. The first treadmill workout is done 15 minutes with some Lynyrd Skynyrd.
