There is a chance that the thermometer is wildly inaccurate or that temps are increasing due to the double 90 turn in the flue path slowing down the flue gases. Is there a generous uphill pitch on the horizontal section toward the chimney? Do you have a stove top thermometer as well?

i wouldnt say generous but theres a uphill pitch. No no stove top thermometer but will get one tomorrow night after work.1 90 deg and 1 45 deg toward the chimney

What is that under the stove? Is there supposed to be an ashpan in there?

well looked all over town for stove top thermometer and no one carries that.Girlfriend wants to go Shopping in Bangor for the week end so will look down there.

You can order one from Amazon, if need be.
