Stat settings are not the same between stove models. "2" on one stove will mean something different on another.
Please see if your dealer has a used 4' section you can try as a "loaner". If it works, buy it from him.

Yes, there is going to be a lot of leverage on that tall pipe. I would start by adding a 3ft section. Be sure to install a brace or two on the chimney pipe. One is required at every 5' above the roofline.I appreciate your offer Chris. My dealers is 1 hr 40 minutes one way. I will add 5ft more today.

True.When the stove is dialed down low you'll want to take the reading on the top above of the cat like BKVP is suggesting. These stoves dialed down the top above the cat is where the heat comes from.
