I think a cant hook would be better. The hook on the side beats the pointy end IMHO.

lol I use the timber jack eveyone says is crap, I like it and works well but havent had anything else to compare.
 
The secret is in the "hog nose" end. The peavey has just a point that slips on the side of the log making it hard to get a bite to turn it. The peavey is better suited to spike the log like a pike pole than to turn it when fighting resistance.

when I break this one, Thats what I will get next.
 
Logrite tools are worth the extra cash, IMO. Lifetime warranty on the handle, able to replace the other parts. I bought mine to handle a bunch of 4' oak rounds and my 260 lb arse hasn't been able to break it.
