Hi--

Moved into a house last spring and it's the first time I've had a pellet stove-- we got the stove serviced and cleaned and the tech replaced the fan--

It's a castle serenity stove with a date of 2016. When we started it up this winter we've been having an issue with a very inconsistent flame--sometimes very small (less than an inch above the burn pot) and sometimes very high (almost to the top of the stove) and about half the time it seems to be somewhere in the middle (about 6-8 inches above the burnpot). It seems to be at the lowest just after the auger has fed pellets it.

Just wondering how normal these fluctuations are and whether or not this is an issue for running it? I've already adjusted the air intake valve to be at about half (it was at about 1/4 closed before and the flame fluctuations were much worse) and have the blower/exhaust voltage settings set as recommended by the manual.

Thanks for any advice!

What you describe sounds like a normal pellet stove

I am not familiar with your stove. That said if your stove has the ability to ramp up and down as required to maintain an even temperature what you have described is normal operation.
