What's the value of a 27 year old P61-2. I understand it's a manual. Don't know for sure if it works. As usual they claim it works but from the looks of it it hasn't run in quit a while. Is there a way to test it with out firing it up? I started it and it belched carbon out the exhaust and that was the end of that test. Obviously I can't run it inside. There was a few red lights on, but I only had it on for a few seconds. There's few shots of the pot, mind you I have cleaned it and the heat exchanger which had almost a 1/4 inch of ash on it. I see the auger is covered in carbon also . I will be going further as there's dust in the back where the motors are.

Plug it in and put it in test mode, if all the leds light and motors turn it should be ok…looks like it feeds a deep clean…what’s he asking?

K the exhaust did, but its spitting carbon out in my kitchen, so I immediately turned it off. Was only on for like 3 seconds. $1000. If I can get it close to a door I'll run it on test. Should this all happen in a sequence or all at one time?

Yup I've done the front, those were shot before I got the wire brush out and the vacuum. The fans at the back are all jammed with dust and what looks like paper fibre. I'm assuming I'll have to remove some parts to get at them. Ones facing the exhaust and I can't get at it from behind . In fact none of them look like there very accessible from the back.

Just to test and no fire just put a trash bag over the exhaust to catch soot and ash

Sounds like you bought it, 1000$ isn’t too bad…clean everything that moves and that ash can cake on…I’ve refurbished a few so ask away and I’ll answer what I can.

K I think I got most of it out. I did look up the exhaust and there's pile of ash also. I might have the "technicians" come out with the proper equipment to get into the cracks and crevices. Ones here Wednesday to secure the thermocouple on the Quadrafire, we'll see what he says.

Okay, not sure what all happened. The exhaust works, the auger moved back and forth. Not sure if the heater fan came on though. Appears all lights were on at one point.

Power, distribution and feed came on, then feed turned off. I believe that was the end. Does it turn all off when done? And like I said the auger was rocking back and forth. And the bag trick worked. Also sounded like the auger was jumping, there was some clunking going on. Also I could feel the auger jumping while I was hanging onto the exhaust. I believe it ended with the exhaust still running. No Status light though. I also didn't feel any air coming out of the front vents. Hope that helps. And I looked in the front and it had pushed the last of the pellets out. I also found this in it, any idea what it is? Also the distribution light changed brightness before it finished.

The distribution fan is the black housing at the back of the stove, you should be able to see it spinning during test mode if you can’t hear it…during test mode it will start the cycle over again after a few seconds

Found it and it's not working. I've added more info to the preceding post as I retry the test.

Is that the flame guide that sits on top of the burnpot? Cheap easy replacement if so

I'm guessing your right. There isn't one there. I'll add that to the list. Does it just sit there with gravity? I just set in there and when the time comes I'll see if I need it.

Lol did this get too complicated. Another question. The distribution light came on and stayed on, but the motor isn't running. What does this tell me? I'm trying to get an idea of costs , etc so I can do one big order for parts, and get this thing running. It's very difficult to get people out here and I'd like to get it all done in 1 trip. ASAP. 😁

Took the back side cover off to get at the distribution motor and found a white, black and green set of wires going to it. Which ones are the 120, or the ones I can check the resistance on? They are have connections on them. Not sure if that's factory of not? The motor spins freely, with a little bit of bearing whine.
