Just think of all the pellets you will save if you put it in room mode. I've had mine in that mode for a month or so, and several days I've gone thru less than 1 bag/day - between the two stoves..
Thanks Tony !! no changes in house, my stove that been producing more and more ash each year, but seems to work good, I changed board to hopefully correct that issue, I prefer to use stove mode because I can set it so my main house heat can kick on from time to time and keep pips in cellar warm, mayby 12 - 13 years ago it burned like this and I don't remember,. The last 8-10 years I just leave it on #3 and all work good, now #3 equals what was #6 much hotter that it was before , and #1 is hotter than #3 use to be ! It's possible I'm screwed up not the stove . !! LOLLets look at this an other way, what is the average amount of pellets at Harman advanced burn (when set to lowest setting on stove / constant burn mode during a 12 hour period ? mine is currently burning apx 30 pounds , in that normal ???
I am not quite certain why you refuse to use room temp mode in the shoulder season at least. It keeps the room at the temp you want and saves a lot of pellets.
Thanks John , new board was set but dealer and I double checked them it is set correctly, seal between hopper and auger is original, I didn't know there was one, It has never been checked, I will need to figure out were that is and what shape its in, the draft setting is in the middle, its where the old board was at . and yes the fines box was cleaned too, , The time pellets were falling in was a freak thing when igniter half fired up pellets / started stove but like half on and half off, I think I ended up replacing igniter and esp probe for that one, but its been good for a while,Your weekly cleaning routine sounds very through possibly even excessive. Why the need to wire brush and soak parts, is it cresoate. Have you checked the backdraft damper in the air intake, of it you have outside air could it be pluged? It would seem unlikely since the stove works on room temp, but did you run it long enought to get a good comparison.
The new board, did the dealer set the dip switches and would the dealer contact harman to confirm the settings are correct, possibly a different version software on the board. Might also flip each switch, just to be sure one's not halfway between, not likely but only takes a moment, with power off, but you knew that.
You tested the gaskets, how about the seal between the hopper and auger. Is the fines box cleaned too?
Have you adjusted the draft setting? The little hole thru the control board cover.
You had a problem with pellets falling off the front of the front of the pot at start up, if the pot is overfilling at startup you can adjust the amount of pellets that are loaded with the dip switches, see the pic in post 16 of the is thread.

I swapped pellets with a buddy with same stove his burns like mine use to
Tony I appreciate your thoughts , and it not that I refuse to use room temp, I used room temp last week end, and stove turned itself on and off about 3 times in a 5 hr period, , but it did keep the house at 70 degrees, I don't see how that save pellets, seems like it take more to start it up ? more were and tear on igniter. Let me put my concern in an other perspective, Its like I have been driving the same car for 12 years, it has ran great but starting to smoke and burn oil, , so I put a new motor in it, I assume the new motor doesn't burn oil, but hard to tell because the new engine Idles down the road at 30 mph, The cruise control works great if I want to do 60 mph, but the car wont go under 30 mph, Ya buying a gas stove would solve the concern, turning the forced hot water heat would too ! something has changed, I don't know what, I not trying to be difficult , I came to these boards hoping that someone else has ran into this concern, Also not looking for exactly #1 = 1 pound of pellets, all thought for as far back as I remember, that pretty close to how my stove has worked ! As I stated in earlier post it could be that the stove now working as it did 12 - 13 years ago, (so far back I don't remember) and the circuit board may have been going for a while causing the stove to run more along the line of how its was before I changed the board , It could very well be me ! and the way the stove is now is normal !! thats why I want to see if that was an average the stove would burn! There is not a standard amount on a constant burn. It depends on the ESP temp. If your intake air temp is 0 or 50 that would also affect consumption. The quality of pellets being uses would affect consumption.
If there was no ESP probe then yes you could dial in the consumption rate exactly as it would only be auger driven. The ESP probe maintains constant heat not consumption. It never has been about consumption only about constant heat. The Op needs to get that straight in his head. IT HAS NEVER HAS BEEN ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF PELLETS BURNED IN CONSTANT OR STOVE MODE. GET OVER IT. IT IS ABOUT CONSTANT HEAT.
The Op for some reason refuses to use room temp. In the shoulder season. GET OVER IT. IT SAVES PELLETS vs Stove or Constant heat mode in the shoulder season. You never exceed the set temp.
Why are you fighting the stove? Let it do what it was designed to do. AGAIN YOU WILL NOT HAVE A SET AMOUNT OF PELLETS USED IN CONSTANT BURN MODE. IT WILL BE A VERY ROUGH ESTIMATE. YOU ARE WANTING EXACT. NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN AND YOU WILL DRIVE YOURSELF CRAZY AS IT ALREADY HAS.
I suggest you pull it out and stick with gas heat. This will satisfy all your needs. Consumption amount at a particular setting. Oh wait, it depends on the weather outside doesn't it. Go figure.
I have a HarmanP61A,Tony I appreciate your thoughts , and it not that I refuse to use room temp, I used room temp last week end, and stove turned itself on and off about 3 times in a 5 hr period, , but it did keep the house at 70 degrees, I don't see how that save pellets, seems like it take more to start it up ? more were and tear on igniter. I have a HarmanP61A,
Largest Burnpot= More pellets used regardless..that's a fact..uless you run a low feed rate like #2 which as they say is like putting a brick under your gas pedal...saving pellets but restricting your heat output..
All thruout winter it didn't matter much what settings I used to keep the house around 73-74 degrees..
12- 14 hours per bag was Constant all winter... room mode/auto 12-14hrs... room mode/ manual 12-14 hrs... Stove mode[constant] auto 12-14hrs..
The higher I ran the fan speed the closer I was to 12 hrs... the lower the fan speed the closer to 14 hrs..... feed rate always at 3.5..[Even when I burned ton of O'Malley's which get my vote for Longest pellets in the Universe.. 12-14 hrs per bag.
btw: brand of pellets did not change anything also... from HD's Stove Chows to Energex golden pellets to Blazer Douglas fir the consumption never changed...
Only thing that changed was amounts of ash left over....Blazer we're the winner for least ash.
I don'y worry about saving the igniter either.... 60-70 bucks if It ever craps out.. Probably the cheapest part of a pellet stove to replace....I didn't pay 3700.00 for a Harman just so as to NOT use the technology that is built into it.
it;s like not using your Car's AC just to save 3 MPG..... sooooooooooo, 3lbs per hour give/take in the dead of winter is about right for my Stove.....
Note:
the other variable I left out was house Insulation vrs poor Insulation so Milage will vary obviously but just on a maint burn which I call "simmering" in room/ manual mode, it will drop good amount of pellets.
