I’m done tinkering. It’s finally dialed in best I can. The damper and my homemade turbulator, and now blocking 2 of the three dog house air holes. A N/S load of pine and it takes off but I can keep it under 950. Right now with hardwood E/W, which I think is more controllable. I’m cruising at 450 STT blower on med/high. Flue temps at the adapter are 720. Air control at 25% open.

My takeaways. Great value! Add a damper if you think you need to. Loading N/S and blocking air holes slows the burn down. Temps measured at the adapter are quite a bit higher than others report 18” up. I have no idea if my DIY turbulator has any effect. Now I’m done messing with other variables maybe I will run without it. I probably don’t care enough to be honest.
