As I look over my stash....

I have around 85 bags left...been burning since mid Oct...using around 1 to 2 bags a day...might have to pick some more up in March..I bought 4 tons...stove runs 24/7 most of the time...house stays around 70-72....Glad it's not a cold winter...I'm figuring I would of needed another ton at least. My oil tank looks good...I have only bought a 100 gallons since Thanksgiving..it's used for heating the water..and sometime in the morning the wife turns the heat on..I always turn the pellet stove down during the nights. My Thelin heats well and likes pellets...I going to try some other brands next year...maybe I can get longer burn times...I've used MWP and the Geneva pellets....2 tons each and I've picked up some other to try...live and learn I guess.

Weird. Similar story here. I just put in bag number 50 to top the hopper off (gotta have the hopper topped off) and I have 82 bags left. I am averaging about 1.25 bpd (bags per day ) I also bought only 100 gallons on September 13th to get me to 5/8 of a tank and I am now down to about 3/8 of a tank. Hoping to only have to buy another 100 gallons for the winter. We use oil for hot water and only about 5 hours total for heat. The thermostats we have tell you how long they have been running in the previous day/week/year. We turn the stove off while we are both at work and were away from the house for a couple days for Christmas.

I was also away for Christmas..8 days..and it was cold up here...forgot to mention that...that is wierd..ha..ha..Wondering what thermostat you have...never knew they could keep track of the furnace time running...post that will ya...thanks

Ok..I'll stack it in singles...that way it should be around 50 feet high. I will be shopping for more at the end of the month...looking forward to check some of the prices out.....have they dropped or gone up..??...or out of them...???...I bought the MWP (mixed) for $220 earlier this fall..I see them now for $215.00..at the same place..

The thermostats were in the house when we bought it. They are "Hunter Set n Save II" The timer records time that the thermostat is calling for heat. Its not actual boiler run time but still gives me an idea. If I open the door like in the picture and hit the usage button it displays the length of time the thermostat was calling for heat. I like seeing the zeros like in the picture!

I am such a Rookie. I have a ton and a half left thinking it may last until March? If I were to stock up and buy several tons. I wouldn't know where to stash i? I use my garage for automotive repairs, so I wouldn't want to block that off. My house is chock full of stuff (you know, everyone has stuff of some kind or other). We used to have the basement available, but our Daughter moved back home. So that's out! The only room I have left is my stove room. I could store several tons in there, but I wouldn't want the concrete floor to crack :^)

Your floor won't/ shouldn't crack I'm not sure what the size of a pallet is, but I will guess 3' X 4' or a 12 sqft footprint. Probably end up being less weight on your floor than me standing on it per sq ft (167lb/sq ft)

I honestly appreciate you taking the time letting me know about the concrete floor. That is what I love about this forum. Everyone watches out for the next guy! I was kidding about it cracking, but this really is the only place I have left to store any pellets so they'll be out of the way. Although it does have it's advantages! When I need more pellets all I have to do is walk about 20 steps to the bags (it's a good size room). The big disadvantage is if the basement catches fire? :^)

Hey, if the true definition of a pellet pig is they have so many bags of pellets that they can no longer see over the top of them. Could the definition of a pellet piglet be they are working on piles of pellets at least half that high?

Two-thirds of my stash is in the garage which obviously is a concrete floor. The other third is in the corner of my utility room stacked under the stairs. It's right next to the garage, and has the same concrete floor, except there is tile over it.

The last time the weather was this goofy, we had several storms produce more than more than two feet of snow in Feb! It got colder than a Well Drillers Butt Crack around here.

My stash may not be up to par with some. I just checked and I do still have over a half a tank of heating oil from April of last year. I do have some emergency oil heat if need be! The only good thing about this is I can call the oil company, they'll be out in a day or two to fill it up.
