Why does anybody bang the tubes? I think I need to buy stock in a steel tube company.
12.5" is actually to the bottom of the cat housing. There is some useable space to each side of it. I usually have a few skinny pieces that I can slide in there on each side.
I love your exuberance!Just a quick update on my Ashford.
This thing is amazing !............I love it......It lights up from cold start so easily........and from reload lightning fast.....So easily controllable. It really is like night and day difference from my Progress Hybrid Experience.
I have done a couple break in fires and the first long burn last night with five splits of ash and reloaded at 14 hours...could have gone a couple hours longer.......Crazy awesome.!......Set it and forget it.....heh.
Will update with more detail when I get it more broken in........Could not be happier.
P.S . Oh and thank god for front loading doors and north south loading.......haha.........didn't realize how much I missed that.
I will buy one more stove in my life time.
It will happen when we downsize in 6 or 7 years. We have a 5 bedroom 3 full bath house and just the wife and i and our 13 year old grandson.
So when he's gone we will be also. We have a huge yard and a in ground pool I'm tired of taking care of besides!
This stove will be at the top of the list because the King will not move with us.

I was going to wait a little while longer to make another post , to let the stove break in more.............But I cant wait
Just gotta say that the control that this stove has is nothing short of astonishing. I have been running it 24/7 for a week and the temp change in the house is seamless on reload....does not change one degree if I want it to.
I am burning 1/2 loads of Ash and getting 17 hour burns to reload.....And using NO blowers or fans ........Except one little fan that sits at the top of the stairs aiming down into the family room ( lowest floor)..........Yep , that's it.......This is an amazing heater.
Outdoor temps the past couple days have been upper 20's at night and upper 30's to near 40 during the day...........I am heating a 2000 square foot tri-level home (good insulation). All floors are same temp .....maybe 1 degree difference on lowest floor. House stays around 73-74 . If I want it to I can dial it up higher and go to 78-79 , or lower to 70-71.......Amazing control .
This stove has exceeded my expectations.

Let me know how they work for ya.........I was going to order the blowers but haven't really needed them.
If they are anything like the sirocco then they make a huge difference. My stove room is at 74-75 with no blower. Kick the blower and its up to 80 in 5-10 minutes. Part of that is the way I built mine into a alcove/fireplace area.
Does the Ashford have an option for a rear heat shield?
I've been looking at the Sirocco 30 however the more I look at the Ashford the more I like it.
It's more expensive but it looks better than the sirocco I think.
Can I get the blowers later and install them after I've had the stove installed?
My stove (either sirocco or Ashford) will be going into a large alcove area, 96" wide, 87" tall, and 24" deep. Does this area still meet an alcove install? If so does the Ashford need to have the fans in place for the 6" clearance on the rear?

I'm not for sure, but I don't think the blowers reduce the clearance on the Ashford. They can be added at any time.
I think the clearance to the back is 9" with double wall pipe. I can't remember for sure, I'll look when I get home.

How much did you pay for your Ashford Webby? I was quoted $2,995 today without blowers. Black stove. The blowers were an additional $285.
Still better than the Cap Cods price of $3,600 for a stove you don't have as much control over based on what I've read on them (Ashford vs Cap Cod).

Getting 20 hour burns the last 2 days loading 2/3 full with ash. No blowers. Outdoor temps in the upper 30's to low 40's. House temps have ranged from 71 to 74.....( burn time start is counted when cat probe registers just above active range mark and ends just above active range mark )

Yep, getting into the 30's is my magic point. 30's at night with high 30's low 40's during the day and I can usually cruise for 20-24 hours. 16-17 hours into last nights load with probably a few hours left in it after pulling everything to the front/center of the stove.
I went to the stove shop yesterday for some gaskets, I was hoping they had an Ashford on display but no luck yet.

Just wanted to give another update on my Ashford:
Getting 22-23 hours burns consistently....... Keeping my house at 73-74 and the last two hours of the burn it drops to 70-71........I am loading 2/3 full,........outdoor temps in the 30's at night and 40's during the day........Again, I count my burn time start when wood has been burning for about 15 minutes and the cat probe registers just above the active range. And the end of the burn time count when the cat probe drops back down to the same spot as the beginning which is just above the active range......Plenty of coals to restart , if not more than enough.
I am still amazed at the results of what this stove can do and how it is performing.
I will post when I start doing complete full loads.......just haven't felt the need to because of the super long burns I am getting with 2/3 loads.

Btw..I can sometimes hit close to 40 in temps like that..lol.
Ya what can that boy do with the temps we are having now which are single digits to below zero. Thirty degree temps are not a good test for a stove.
If you're talking to me I'm loading every 12 in the deeper cold.
Temps in large stove room about 76..next room over 72 or so..rest of house upper 60's.
About -5 out with around 8 mph winds.
I am running the blowers on low which I hardly ever do but it does help the efficiency of the stove.

40 hours ? Damn that's awesome ! ............Am excited to see what this stove can do when we get a cold snap........Doesn't get as cold you but we get into the single digits from time to time.
