It was supposed to start snowing now. Nothing yet, clear skies. I do see clouds over the Sound towards CT.

They got it wrong again for use, got up to bright sunshine and 1/2 in of fresh white
stuff. This morning they are now forecasting a good dump for Wednesday. I think it
is called wait and see

We got 5". Luckily it's still 28, so no icing of the road earlier this morning.

38 later today so it'll be a mess outside.
Beautiful now though.

5" here in southern Coos County, NH; 18" on the ground. Sp far February has been the winter we have missed over the passed few seasons. Glad I bought that snowblower ;-)

The last I looked they were forecasting another 6 to 12 starting on Tuesday, hopefully later that night. I have a bunch of snow that will need to be moved tomorrow and maybe early Tuesday. The second storm I think will be near the end of the week or on the weekend, hopefully we don't get rain since we'll have close to four feet of snow on the roof.

I got 7.5" of snow - right inside the 5-9" they were predicting for a large portion of the state. The picture was taken at 7:45 am and we got about 1/2" more snow between 8:15 and 9:00. Nice and light, so cleaning it up was easy. The next storm is Thursday, no predicitons on it yet.

Do you not have a snow removal routine or equipment for the roof?

Usually the stronger sun in February and March help get rid of it before any heavy rains, if anything, I'll roof rake the edges.

Special Weather Statement in effect for:
  • Smiths Falls - Perth - Eastern Lanark County
Highly impactful winter storm possible Wednesday evening into Thursday. What:Total snowfall amounts of 20 to 40 cm.Poor visibility in heavy snow and local blowing snow. When:Beginning Wednesday evening and ending Thursday.Additional information:Significant amounts of snow are possible late Wednesday into Thursday across a large portion of southern Ontario due to a strong low pressure system. At this point, the path of the low pressure system is still uncertain which will affect exact snowfall amounts.Hazardous travel conditions are likely. Motorists are urged to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

I have been following a few storms in ME and ours here. I am impressed by how good the models have been predicting snow totals for the storms I’m following. Powerful computers that to date the private sector has not invested in. (That I am aware of).

This may be our big one of the year

If you can snowblow a bunch of that west, that would be great...

Looks like there will be some significant snow accumulation in the mountains starting Saturday.

We have an advisory, 3" expected tonight, starting at 7 (...?).
Schools another 2 hr delay. Tomorrow 36. But at 8 it's already 33, and likely sleet. Nasty I think.
And Thursday forecast to be 47 ... _g

I was texted a video of people driving cars on the lakes. The ice has been too thin for that the last few years.

I haven't been ice fishing yet this year, but last winter we went about this time, just about couldn't get through the ice with a 4ft auger.

As a kid (about 2001) we lived along Lesser Slave Lake for a year. That winter was ridiculously cold and windy, like 3 weeks of -40. I think the thickest they measured they ice at was 6 1/2 ft. But the wind kept the snow of the ice so it was constantly exposed to the cold weather.

Dang you're young.
Isn't that where they filmed some Alone season?

I think the most I’ve drilled through was about 3 feet. I remember having to get pretty low on the ice to keep cranking the auger.
