Sigh.. I get to drive down 90 this weekend. That’s all flat and open.
This is the only new update I could find this morning.

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

A slow moving cold front will be overtaken by the development of a
coastal low Thursday night into Friday. Rain is expected until
temperatures cool closer to freezing. At this time, warm
temperatures leading up to precipitation may result in localized ice
movement, but cooling conditions with a faster transition from rain
to snow than the previous event will likely limit hydrologic
concerns. Probabilistic guidance indicates the potential for river
flooding is very low at this time.

There is the potential for sections of eastern Vermont to observe
moderate to heavy wet snow. The latest forecast indicates the
potential for areas along and east of the Green Mountains in Vermont
to receive 3 to 6 inches of snow. Monitor the forecast for trends
with this system.

Thanks Mrs. @yooperdave for the weather coming at us , I think that the old throwing arm still has enough in it that I'll be chucking a nice ice ball your way. ==c

This morning AccuWeather has us getting 0.25 - 0.50 of ice, hopefully that changes. Add about 1 inch of rain coming in on Sunday, that will be a big mess.

Thank you for putting me in that nice pink Blob NOT
At least it is on the weekend :p
I think we'll put in one more load of wood today and then decide what we'll cook before the potential ice gets here.

I guess what they say will happen. My generator just exercised for this Month
At least I know it works .

Looks like we will be getting a brief but intense weather event rolling through this evening around 6pm as a cold front collides with our current warmed and moist air. Hopefully it will just be thunder and lightning, but the possibility of tornadoes (2%) has been listed. It looks like the strongest weather will be east of us on the upslopes of the Cascades.

Fortunately for our area the storm turned into a nothingburger. Nice light show and a little rain. We're in the middle clear area. Other areas got a lot more weather. There were 915 lightning strikes closer to the mountains. Up north a motorhome took a direct hit. It was totally destroyed.

So, hopefully, we won't get the 15 to 20 mm of freezing rain or the 20 cm of wet snow
Might be an interesting weekend here

AccuWeather has us getting between 0.25 - 0.50 of ice, tonight they have that at a 80 percent chance. Before that the forecast is for 2-4 inches of the wet heavy snow and then after the ice close to 1 inch of rain.

Everything is pretty much the same, the ice we're suppose to get will be on the high end of the forecast unless that changes, 0.50.

Ice storms are when we lose power here. Our utilities are underground. Above ground for two streets to our development. Branches take out the wires.

I'll freeze containers of water in the freezer as ice blocks if I have advanced notice of an ice storm. Fill the refrigerator with water, too. Or, better still, cans of beer. :)

Can go days without power and the refrigerator functions as an old ice chest.

My area shows we are supposed to get significant icing of up to 3/4". Last I remember this being the case we were out of power for 4 days. Only got power back that quickly because we agreed they could do a fast and "dirty" hookup while leaving the wires on the ground (from the street pole to our house). Two weeks later I called them and let them know I needed the wires lifted (or power cut) as we needed an oil delivery and the power lines ran across the access to the oil tank. I was extremely appologetic at the time because there were a lot of people still without power at all at that time.

Many people were out for 3-4weeks. But, that event covered more of the state. This event is supposed to affect a more localized area (the red area - at which I'm towards the bottom of) and I'm glad not to see the color for "Extreme" on the map..

HOWEVER, right now (2:50 am) it is still 40*, so I may get lucky and the warm air edge has moved a bit north of where they believed the boundary would set up. The other day on the news they said it would be a stark temperature contrast at the boundary for places just 30 miles away, so the system doesn't need much of a nudge one way or the other

Or, the warm air has hit the high elevation and still has to drop its way down to me. The air is still too dry for any of the precipitation to get to the ground at this point but the humidity is starting to creep us so it will eventually get here.

Edit at 3:18 am: outside humidity finally hit 60% and rain has started to fall. Crossing my fingers that the ice stays away!

No ice as of yet! Six 6inches of snow, blowing like crazy.
They say ice to come later. On Monday, temp. to rise to 15::C
So, back to mud season

I just checked NOAA, we have a Ice Storm Warning until 8 pm on Sunday, 0.50 - 0.75 of the chit.

We had some snow with ice overnight but nothing that caused power outages.

It's a fricking 78 right now here...
And Tuesday night it'll freeze (barely but still).

The Weather Channel has the ice hitting our area at 12:30 tonight, the later the better.
