We are buying a King model. All 460 pounds of it. Do any of you know how much lighter it gets when you pull some parts out? Bricks, door etc? It has a bit of a journey to our living room, trying to avoid a crane.
how long of a burn do you get from it with setting it at that position?Running at 3 o'clock, in the middle of the "normal" range is where I usually have it. Runs just fine there. Thought I'd be able to turn it down a little further though with the wood blocks, and for a whIle there I could.. guess at the low settings it just can't be a set-and-forget it thing.
the bricks weight nothing and the door won't be on the stove when you get it. you won't get much weight off of it. get a hand truck a couple ratchet strapsWe are buying a King model. maybe if you load the stove up more you will be able to run it at a lower tstat settingCouldn't really tell you to be honest.. most of my loads so far have been small, 3-4 splits or 2-3 envi-blocks. I've had a 14ish hour burn once so far with a full load, but that was one of the first burns and I was fiddling with the stat a few times during it.

I have no problems running my stove at the lowest setting either, but maybe in his situation he could try loading it more to create more fuel for the cat at a lower setting? Maybe worth a shot?As shown in my photo on the prior page, I've been running 24+ hour cycles on just three splits per load. I'm setting the knob around 1pm (sorry, no numbers on my sticker) to get those long burns. I haven't had any trouble with a stalled cat, except one time I used a known-wet knotty piece of oak.
To answer the question posed before, my flue is a straight shot, about 14 feet. Single wall black pipe into insulated flex liner.
The top of the chimney needs to be at least 2ft above the peak. Surface temps on double-wall pipe are not helpful. If 200 flue temp is from a probe reading then it is too cool.I'm 17' straight with the 8" outside. It is level with the peak of my roof. Draft is good but wondering if another 2' would do anything. It would be difficult to add the 2' but can be done... Running the stove at 3 o'clock (don't have numbers) with flue temp at 200*.
The peak I'd estimate to be 15' from the chimney. I'll get another section up there and try it out. Yes the 200°F is a probe. The cat thermometer is normally around the 12 o'clock position when I'm at 200°F flue. The thermostat is set at 3 o'clock. The top of the chimney needs to be at least 2ft above the peak. If 15ft away from the nearest portion of the roof then this is not an issue. For flue temps, below 250F I get concerned. That's when creosote starts to condense.
It's not StoveBright. Several manufacturers are now using Crossroads. Your dealer can order it for you.Just got a 15 hr burn out of my SC20 with about 1/4 load of the mill ends. I checked them and they are reading 12-15% MC (split) after sitting outside for the summer. Mostly maple, oak, and mahogany.
Question: What is the matching Stove Bright paint for the steel Sirocco? I got the bright idea to put a tea kettle on it and it seems to have taken a small spot of paint with it... Apparently it wasn't fully cured yet. I have flat black for my Duravent stove pipe.

For comparison, on low burn cruise my flue temps run 400_600 in double wall measured with a probe meter. 200 is crazy lo. The cat should be over 500 to be "active".
Could it be that your wood isn't dry enough?View attachment 165046
Everything's installed and works awesome. Wife loves it compared to the Napoleon 1400 we had. This thing rocks! I'm 17' straight with the 8" outside. It is level with the peak of my roof. Draft is good but wondering if another 2' would do anything. It would be difficult to add the 2' but can be done. (Have a bunch of 2' sections left over. Bought used.) Only reason I'm asking is that off my stove I couldn't go the 36" straight shot that the manual asks for. I'm double walled inside with 3 yes 3 45's. Not ideal but everything is working good. Running the stove at 3 o'clock (don't have numbers) with flue temp at 200*.
