I'm jealous.
My forecast gives me 7% chance of precip between 7 am and noon tomorrow. 2% or lower outside of that window.
Wow! Must just be missing you! I heard us in central/south NJ and some folks in PA are potentially getting clobbered. Work/schools/etc. already closed here. Usually par for the course first decent chance of snow around here. Later on in the season we learn to deal with it better.

Always a win there! Wife loves when I do a stew or any kind of soup really especially on the woodstove cooktop. Looking like they are calling for about 6-10" here. Nothing too crazy except the fact we haven't gotten snow in a while in our neck of the woods... lots of panic buying. I do get a kick out of it.
That's enough snow but for us, not enough for panic buying. We did go through the Ice Storm of 98, a chit load of panic buying then.

We lived in a town with municipal power so they always are putting a certain amount money each year back in the system so we only lost power for 9 hours. The area we live in today, some were without power for a month. A bunch of the poles in our area we live today had never been replaced since they were put in, things are better today but if we ever get hit with a ice storm like 98, all bets are off.

Just be patient. I heard there’s a chance for a massive storm hitting our area on Saturday. Still a ways out so the forecast will change at least 200 more times but one forecast called for 14-20” for the New York area.

Indeed, snow in the forecast.
:)

Although I'm supposed to get a truck load of the pine we cut lately that day...

It's early in the year, so how about a pick of one of the last loads of 2024, and the first load of 2025. ;-)

The first pic is from right after Christmas, before the warm spell that melted all of the snow.
The second one is from yesterday. No more snow, but back to cold and frozen ground! Yay!

I always start my season with doing the limbwork. I cut the tops up in the woods, split as needed with the X27, bring the wood out with the Ranger and stack it right away. I like to get the logs cleaned up and ready to drag out to the woodpiles to be CSS in spring. The weather is forecast to be cold for a while, so I will probably start dragging logs out next weekend. I've got about 10 pieces ready to go. So far it is ash killed off by the borer, yellow birch and oak ready to drag out!

The snow is completely missing us in Wisconsin. We get to cold, just the way I like it!

After plugging in the block heater on the tractor for 3 plus hours, I started up the tractor so I could plow today. We might get another 3 to 8 inches of snow starting later tonight with wind gust up to 35 mph. It was cold this morning when I went out ( - 6.5 ) but I would rather plow in that temp with no wind.

Half day of tree work today. Removed 2 red oak leaders. With as big in diam the cuts that were made, I consider the tree to now be a slow removal. IDK the details but, the neighbor wanted them down from overhanging their driveway. I didn't take any wood home. I wanted to but, my driveway is still choked off on the left side of horseshoe, and I didn't really want to deal with unloading big wood in this cold. Still doing it by hand......

I did park my truck in front of the splits. Ready to load another into the basement. Maybe 2 or, a second load tomorrow.

It was sugar snow so it was easy plowing but by the time it ended, we received 8 inches, just my guess. Here are some pictures of the plowing and the deer, some were still eating off the hill in the back but the little one was eating something (maybe leaves) just off the trail.

In the last picture, I need a tree ID for the tree on the ground up the hill. :)

I know that tree in the last pic; it's in the family of forest trees, and the specific type is "horizontal".

My luck, it's probably a Basswood. I'll need a trail down from the top, hopefully it's in an area that has a good size flat area or it might stay.
