Yah that's a summit in your pics. For certain a warped heat shield can restrict flow. It is a relatively inexpensive and easy fix. It should be straight/flat.

Took it apart today. The bent heat shield is what came out. The more flat is what i put back in.
It burns like a totally different stove, what a difference.
But did it fix my puff of smoke? Im not sure. It changed it.
I also replaced the pipe coming out of the stove, hoping to get a better seal.
