I see some saws being sold over the net that are claimed to be Husky saws, but direct from the manufacturer. Anyone have one? Know of what the deal is?

Are they factory refurbished? Post a link if you can.

You didn't provide many details, but I suspect you are talking about the fake Husqvarna saws that are not factory direct. Conartists are buying cheap Chinese chainsaws, stripping the brand stickers off them, slapping knock off Husqvarna stickers on them, and selling them on ebay as Husqvarna saws. They look nothing like Husqvarna saws, they are not the quality of Husqvarna saws, the manufacturer of these saws is not Husqvarna and not involved in the scam.

If you want to go this route, I'd suggest you buy a Ningbo or similar chainsaw and print your own stickers. If the saw doesn't work out for you, you will at least have lots of left over cash to hand over to Husqvarna later instead of handing it over to the conartists now.

What KarlP said +1.

The link provided by Danno is very interesting. Like all things for sale on the internet, if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Specs for the saws on this site indicate the saws ARE NOT made in America. That is not what buyers need to know. What buyers need to know is where they ARE made. As always, "Buyer Beware".

Buy your saw from a local dealer or a friend who is giving you a dynamite buy on his two year old Husqvarna 346, or a reputable internet dealer. You'll be happier in the long run. :)

??? The Husqvarnas on that site are being sold at MSRP... what am I missing?

Roscoe, My comments were not directed toward that particular site. They were directed more generally toward purchasing items on the internet from a site with which a person is unfamiliar. My apologies to you and others for this lack of clarity. :) John_M

Not a thing. That company also sells as logsplittersdirect and a bunch of other direct sales sites. In my opinion, their prices aren't all that great. A little shopping at other sellers can usually beat them. I seriously doubt that their products are knockoffs. If they were, the manufacturers would have had the feds on them a long time ago.

The one thing I don't like about them is their including their own comments about the products in the "review" section. Nothing illegal about it, but their own sales hype and comments by their in-house "product expert" does not constitute a review, imho.
