The same diet of splits is heating for the overnight. Ash, norway maple, and black cherry.

I have very little black locust this year. My red oak, hickory, and honey locust are stacked aside. Once my mini kiln is finished it'll all be baked for a few weeks. There's plenty of the main diet to get me through winter but, I'd like some high BTU splits for the really cold spells.
More outside split in my spring pile too. Beech, sugar maple, white oak, and more red oak. That kiln will do me justice.

Kept the coals alive today with a couple of small loads. Firing up the coals for a 3/4 hardwood load. 40's again tomorrow but dropping again after that. Thursday will be a struggle to hit double digits.

Red/white oak and some cherry for the night. Coals are after 12 hours. A torch on the coals for a short time and took off with no kindling.

Loaded up the stove this morning with a mix of red/white oak and cherry with cut offs to fill the gaps again . A torch lightly on the coals and off she went. Nice to be able to do that.

3/4 load of shoulder season wood went in 45 minutes ago. Might regret it as it's mid 40's and sunny, but the house was a little chilly.

RealFeel is -1C / 30F and it’s 14C/ 57F in the lounge…

Put in ash/poplar/elm splits with poplar/elm kindling with my dry apple twigs and after a 10min preheat out back the torch lit ‘er right up!

Oak shorts and uglies as well. Started them with last nights load of spruces coals. Should be good until tomorrow am with a bit of a warm front coming through the next couple days. Next cold day I believe will be Friday.

I didn't have an overnight fire, I set the furnace again. After making coffee this morning, we each grabbed a cup and then went downstairs, I stuffed the wood stove with cherry for our morning fire.

I just loaded the stove up on coals from this morning, cherry with some soft maple.

Mid 30’s this morning and quickly got in the 40’s so mini split again. 50’s and 60’s this week so I’m guessing more mini split. Took out some ash, cleaned the glass and hearth. Staged more wood and got the Christmas tree 🎄 up.

Yeah. That was a sarcastic “good stuff”. I’ll split one and check it, but I can’t imagine it isn’t dry.

We have an outside temp of 33.1 tonight, I had a shoulder season fire about 2 hours ago. The basement temp is 79 with the temps up here 69 & 70, we won't have an overnight fire tonight.

Loaded the stove with smallish splits of red oak, Norway maple and cherry with some pine kindling. 67 in the house currently. Should be plenty warm for the night into the morning.

Just lit this. Mostly ash with the tunnel cap and bottom right sugar maple. I think I should change the flash setting on my phone.

I had a bit more build up than expected for this time of year as well so i swept. I think what these warmer temperatures I was just trying to run small fires too cool.

Cold wet day here in southern New England. 39 and damp. Loaded the stove with some red oak, white oak, Norway maple, cherry and some cut offs. House was still about 70 when we woke up this morning. A torch to warm the coals and off it goes.

It was 33.1 this morning, no fire yet but I did cycle the furnace after having coffee.

Plenty of coals this morning and house is warm. 3/4 load of ash is in. Temperature will bottom out close to zero tomorrow night with wind chill around -20.
