Got 4.5 hours out of smaller cold start from this morning. Hot Reload STT 400 with a large oak split in back, large ash on the coals in front and a fat maple split across the top. Had to shut air quickly STT 650 now.

28 outside with windchill in the teens, did not load before bed and house was still 65 downstairs so heat never called. Started with a mix load of oak, maple and elm with cutoffs and smaller uglies. Cruising at 600 house 70 now.
Identical temp and load report here in MD, , EXCEPT my oil heat did come on at 545a when I have it set up to 68 from 65. .sprang out of bed, well maybe not really a sprang, .re-started with very dry white and red oak with one hickory wedge. All's well at 71 on the first floor.

We had just enough coals from a cold start but full load of silver this morning 9.5hrs later so u threw a big ugly and some smaller stuff go get it going. I'll be around today so I may do a small mid day reload. Mid 20s today feels balmy time to work some dogs.

28 degrees with lots of wind today. Feels like temp in the mid teens. Barely supposed to get to freezing today with cold and wind tonight. House at 67, just loaded up with 90% white oak, apiece of Norway maple, a piece of black cherry and cutoffs/kindling to fill the gaps. Torch on the coals for a few seconds and off it went. Not bad for nearly 11 hours.

Slept in after not sleeping well. Firing up the coals right now. Plenty of them from the ironwood. House temps are 68 downstairs and 65 upstairs so heaters aren't kicking in. Sunny & breezy, almost 20 already outside and going to get to close to freezing today. Load of hardwood going in shortly.

Everyone must be feeling under the weather to some extent! I’ve been battling something for 2 weeks, just finishing antibiotics tomorrow but still not quite 100%. My kids bring home the plague from school every week .

Feel better!

Glad you're feeling better. I think whatever I had was caught at some ice school hockey games, at the same arena they had 3 games in one day so I stayed for all of them.....I don't think I'll be going again anytime soon.

😂I sprang out of bed at 5 am to take my daughter to the bus. Lit the stove at 5:15. I have my Therms set at 64 before they call.

I’m still on hunting time 😂awake everyday now @ 4:30. Might as well get up and start the stove.

I got home to a toasty house a couple of hours ago. I told T next lesson is charcoal control. I could of used a coal shovel as a start.

What's in my stove right now?

Charcoal...

ETA is stirred up and making good heat. It should be ready for a hot overnight load. It's supposed to be 15 tonight.

Got home too an hour ago. Stove in good shape, home warm, she did well.

So what did you bring home anything?
Yes a large male Coyote and a Doe. Buddy ran into a Black Bear Boar on the ridge and took cool pics. First time seeing a bear in the area. Males not denned up yet.

Cold and windy brought to you by the Midwest! House 72. STT 300, reloaded with 2 large Red Oak splits with a medium split of maple on the coals raked forward. Draft really pulling tonight. Shut things down quickly.

Hope you made it in an old school Dutch oven! Made one for the family in my 5 Qt. before my trip.
Not tonight but we have some Dutch Ovens, the newest is a 7.5 Qt. Lodge which will use next time.

30 F outside, 71 F upstairs.
Reload of red oak shorties. One town/s in the back of the stove, and three angled backwards standing on the coals in the front.
Too much air space imo; 2/3 of a load I think.

That right hand side one Took off before I was ready with the last one in the left.
