FIREWOOD!

I love the cherry when I can get it. Today I took down the largest cherry tree that I have found on my property. The largest cherry trees I have, or have seen down here, are in the 8"-10" range. This one was 15+". I still have about a half of a truckload that I have to go back and get.

I do not take down trees at random. Only if they are diseased, infested, or it will benefit other trees and the ecosystem as a whole.

Nice size cherry tree, make sure you throw some pictures up of the splitting.

Love the cherry . . . the only problem is I always find myself stopping to smell a fresh bucked or split cherry . . . my neighbors most likely think I've finally lost it.

Haha! We all have. That is why we congregate here!

Gotta love cherry !

Yup. Cherry is cheery.

I starting to become a fan of cherry.
Split some rounds in July that are now measuring ~20%.

love cherry also. Some of those rounds look pretty heavy.

About 1/3 of my wood this year is Cherry that was cut and split in August '09. It is burning beautifully now. Very good score, nice and easy to split too.

Tearing apart my Hotz Hauzen now, you can see it in my avatar, it is full of cherry. It is hard to see it go, but burning like a champ. A very nice firewood that seasons quickly, smells great, medium on the BTU list. Some people will only burn cherry around here.
