Yes I take the small plates out of each side of the fire box. Remove the burn pot, remove the fake brick. Vacuum everything.

Exhaust pope is one 45 straight out the back of the house thru the wall to outside. Then has a wind shield on it. No vertical pipe at all.

Room fan is on 9.
It's about time to clean the stove anywat. Im sure all the adjustments I've made are creating alot of ash in different places.

OK, but do you have the holes I have marked "B" on my picture of the inside of the stove plugged with knockout plugs when running the stove?
 
i cleaned mine today, been running for like a month now.. lol

Plug the big round holes marked B @Wehrleyfamilypoultry that'll help with combustion process. Sound like your getting it dialed in slowly. when burning different stuff it takes time to tinker with it. try cutting back on the amount of corn your using. i had this issue last year..to much corn and it'd start to foul.... THis sucked, cuz i built a HUGE add on hopper for mine (holds 4 bags total now) and ihad to pull all that out, and then add more pellets and dump em back in.. what a pain for me that was. lol
 
Maybe the problem is the way I like to see the flame burn.

What I mean is... I like to see the burn pot half full with ashes. And the flame dancing around alot. Maybe this asnt the way theu were maDE to burn?

My manual damper is half open.
 
I think your burning incorrectly. idea is to have as little unburned product as possible..thats how they stay efficient and clean. You want it to feed just enough to keep a good hot flame. my burn pot NEVER fills up half way.

about 10/lb per bag of pellets roughly yes @Wehrleyfamilypoultry .

Check firepotpetes signature and look at his thread about the holes and how to clean. Take the white board outta the stove and you'll see the round holes that go back into the exhaust fan. Plug those holes with electrcal knockouts from hardware store. i gained 10 degrees in my house by plugging those...i was blown away.

OH BOY, now you will need to dial back the DF on the high end, bring it down to at least 270, I'll bet with a good draft you'll be able to get it down to 260 like I have mine at.

Don't get upset with how the stove is running now as you will probably need to almost start from scratch with the outside air coming in now, it makes a huge difference in how the stove burns.

Also get those "B" holes plugged if they aren't already. They aren't as big a deal as the outside air hole being capped, so the stove will run pretty good without them plugged but will throw off better heat with them plugged.

Yea I shut down my stove this morning. Cleaned it and took off the E cap. I started it back up. After adjusting it for awhile. I noticed my numbers where all out of wack. So I reset everything back to factory.

Now since all our roads are ice covered. We are staying home. Plenty of time to adjust the settings

Write those numbers down, adjust slowly, give the stove at least 30-45 minutes to adjust to any change you make. There might be obvious adjustments to make after 10-15 minutes, corn piling up in pot, not enough corn, those are little things to watch for and can be adjusted to keep the stove running.

Also remember that corn takes longer to ignite and burn through than pellets, turn the AUX spin rate down as that will be factory set for pellets and will agitate the corn too often not allowing it to burn good.

You should see a HUGE difference in how the stove performs with that cap removed. You should also notice less drafts coming in the house now that you are using outside air for the stove.

Once you get it dialed in all you will have to do is maintenance and refill the hopper!!

So, yesterday I spent all day adjusting my stove. I can only get it to burn 6 hrs max before I have to clean out the burn pot from too many ashes. Which is alot better than I was doing. I'm beginning to wonder if this stove is made to burn corn without
A agatator like firepot pete says.

At this point I'm thinking of mixing half pellets half corn.

What color are the ashes? What HR and how many PPH do you have to high and low set at?

USSC will not answer any questions about running the stove clinker style. I don't know if it's just because they want to sell agitators or that they didn't design it so won't take the liability of changing to clinker style, but I've tried over the years and have never received an answer about running clinker style in my stove.

Have you tried sliding the manual draft open/closed several times? That will allow a lot of ash under the pot to fall into the ash pan. Also try opening the manual draft half way for a couple of minutes every few hours, that will blow a lot of ash out of the pot area and super burn some of the fuel not completely burned.

If you are getting it to run six hours then you are close to getting it to run all the time.
 
Ashes are black half burned corn.

I tried hr 3, hr4, and hr5. All did the same thing.

Pph low, 1.25 pph, 5.5

Yes I open the manual damper to allow ashe's to fall out the bottom. I played with the manual damper a couple times but only for a couple seconds. It didn't seem to make a difference on how the flame looked.

I'm starting to wonder if the Draft fan is working right. When you open that manual draft it should roar. When you open the stove door does the light above the DF buttons come on and flash?

Also if you are running in manual you will have to adjust the DF yourself. While the ash from corn on lower HR's will be black compared to pellet ash once you get into the hotter settings it should be much lighter and fully burned. You will get some half burned corn outside of the pot, some pops and jumps out, some bounces off the pot and sometimes will hit the agitator and bounce out, but there should be none of that in the burn pot itself.

Considering that you only have 5 HR settings, I would adjust the high end down, way down to maybe 3.5 or 4 pph. I say this because I have mine set at 5pph on HR9 and have NEVER gotten any where near using it. It would also give you a slower increase in the amount of fuel being dumped from one HR to another. Right now you are increasing the fuel by 1.0625 pounds for every HR, that's way to high for the pot to burn without getting clogged up, IMO.

If you adjust it to 1.25 low and 3.5 high you will be adding 0.5625 pounds for every one increase in the HR, or decrease on the down button.
 
I'm not sure weather the panel board flashes or not when the door is open. I don't usually look at it until after I close the door. But the draft fan was new last march. But new things could be junk so that's not saying much.

Your right I was moving the hpp the wrong way. I should have been bring the numbers together, instead of apart.

The draft fan is set on auto. Id like to leave it on auto
 
I calculated it. I should be around 3.80 for my hpp high end and 1.50 for the low. Crap again back to watching it close.

But why whend i reset my stove does it start the hpp on 5?. Someone needs to be kicked in the nuts!
