Ultr Premium White Pine by AWF

These AWFs break up easy when I turn them on my fingers. Mind you I don't know didly squat about pellets and their manufacturing process but before the AWFs all the pellets I've burned so far were more dense and harder. These are basically pine saw dust compressed but not to the point it keeps its integrity. They burn fine. The heat is ok. The flame does not get as high as the other pellets with that said I trully don't like how much fines there are per per the bag. Maybe my inexperience is getting the best of me but I won't buy any more of these for the time being.

PS: the only thing I like about these is how little ash these give compared to North American and Green supremes.

Those are both the worst pellets out there for lack of heat and high ash, Lee Energy #1, N/A #2, GS #3, love the smell of xmas in every pour of the bag!!

Anyone been getting a lot of fines in the ultra pines bags? I would say Prob atleast a cup of fines per bag.

Yes it's not good. Today I had to empty my hopper and vacuum the interior n clean inside the hopper because the pellets weren't feeding. Why they weren't feeding? Because at least a quarter inch of sawdust was stuck to the walls of the hopper preventing the pellets from sliding down. Never again will I buy these AWF ever again

Seriously though, all joking aside, everything burns real nice in my stove. It's just that the quarter inch layer of sawdust inside my hopper is something I did not count on happening. I thought the sawdust would just get eaten by the auger and into the fire, but it's just way too much sawdust, and I forgot to take pics for you guys.

I think you jinxed me as I just went through the same thing trying to burn the last few bags of Green Supreme's I had. Bags got wet at some point and had plenty of sawdust. I sifted but enough got into the hopper that it clogged the auger. Kept resetting the stove and I'd get a quarter turn from the auger and it would stop. Repeated this several times and more sawdust would hit the burn pot. Finally spit out the last of the sawdust and now Turman's are burning for the first time. My house is warm again and my stove is happy.

Not much dust in my bag's, maybe a 1/4 cup, my stove dont care about fines...let'um burn!

That's what I thought but I maxed out the ability of my stove to push through the fines. I should have dumped those bags in the woods but I am an admitted tightwad.

a little more dust than hardwoods I have been using but much better heat, I sift my pellets anyway with a vaccum attached to the sifter so has not really been an issue for me... they ran out of them at the TSC I got them from and the other nearby one never got any so it is moot as I only have 8 or10 bgs of the awfs left anyway

they had instant heat or fire or something when I went yesterday... no awf or tsc brand no 'sets either.. just some generics

Got to run some of these last evening & here is my conclusion. Bags did have lots of fine/dust in them, which is not a issue for me because a clean my bags of pellets, before dumping into stove. They burn quite hot which is good. Seemed to have a fair amount of ash, but stove cleaned up nicely with all the ash because it was lite gray and fluffy. I was running on setting 3 last evening because it was single digits. Normally run setting 2, but wanted some good heat due to very cold & windy out last evening. Heat was definitely there.

I was shocked to see the AWF pine pellets up to $340 a ton this year after I paid $289 a ton last year. Needless to say thats not happening this year. I'm trying some of the AWF hardwood pellets instead. The big picture this year is I'm running my propane boiler as primary heat for the first time since 2006. I love wood heat, but its hard to argue with the price of fossil fuels this year.

We actually found some AWF hardwood at Lowe's last year and decided to give them a try. We were very impressed. Found them to be hot and clean. We are trying the softwood this year and although it hasn't been very cold yet, not noticing much difference between the two.
