I had quite a few requests for a calculator which could calculate wood or firewood volume from a tree. So I have built one similar to the original, outputs all the same information for the most part. But in your measurements you you can enter base and tip circumference, and height or length.

If doing many trees there is an average size you can use to try and get a ballpark figure on many trees.

Please let me know what you guys think and if anything should be added or changed.

The original firewood stack calculator is stickied in this forum.

Measure 40 to 50 trees as per your methods. Then use your calculator to estimate the wood volume. Then measure exactly the wood volume of those trees. Then do some basic statistics to gauge the accuracy of your model.

Till you do such basic empirical data confirmation, models and calculators are suspect, questionable, and maybe useless.

I have done it on 30 in my stack of logs. I am not fully done processing them yet, but so far it looks like it is pretty close.

Wonderful. You should definitely provide stats when you have finished your analysis. Will help solidify your model to end users as reliable.
