Harman P43c making a squealing noise when feed motor engages , only . New unit entering 3rd season of use. All else running perfect on unit. Sounds like a "belt" slipping noise, but I don't think it has a belt in the drive or does it ?
No belts, possible carbon build up in the auger tube…dry moly, a few squirts in the tube when the stove is off should clear it up…or does the auger motor feel hot?
I had a similar issue this year. It was a faulty/worn out Bushing that needed to be replaced. After this was done, it works like new. If that's not the reason, it could be the combustion blower. There may be build up in the impeller blades causing it to not spin as fast as it should and making contact with the housing walls. The other possibility is the HRD Auger, the one that is in the bottom of the hopper, may have saw dust built up around the spinning disc assembly. That can make it screech, grind and not run. All things that can be fixed easily. Hope this helps!
Hi - I just heard a squealing noise from my stove during the last on time of the feed cycle. It happened about 5 times. I stirred the pellets around in the hopper and it went away. I know there is a sliding gate in the feed chamber. Was that just a stuck pellet? The stove is almost new. I did clean it recently including the fines area.

It was probably a pellet piece stuck between the auger and the opening into the firepot. I have that happen every once in a while.
It may have been coincidence that it ended after you stirred the pellets. If a pellet is stuck in the gate you are more likely to get a loud crunch sound as it gets cut off.

Thanks that makes sense. I had been trying Room Temp Mode with the igniter OFF. I have been using Stove Mode up to this point, but now that we have had a couple of +8C days it was getting too hot in the basement. Room Temp Mode was working OK, the fire died down lower than I have seen on Stove Mode (on lowest I could get). Also what might be good is the Dist Fan goes off. However, speaking of coincidence, I wonder if that low burn somehow changed the pellet characteristics at the auger tip? We are cold again so I'm back in stove mode. I also tried Room Temp with the igniter "Auto" and it did work fine. Would I be better letting the stove shut off, or going to low burn?
I may end up not running it at all later (when we are warmer) and just start it up in an hour before I go down and then either shutting it off or letting it go for the night. If it's +24 down there overnight it's OK.
