Funny story, these guys were poor not so famous musicians. Jackson Browne had moved into the basement apartment because it was cheaper. Above him were 2 guys sharing an apartment, Glenn Frey and Don Henley. Glenn and Don had decided to start their own band (after being in Linda Ronstadt's band). They would hear Jackson's teapot going off each morning and after a short while they would hear him working on a song via his piano. They learned a lot about song writing from Jackson's methodical work nature. Jackson was putting together his first album.

Glenn heard Jackson working on a song. Glenn asked him about this song. Jackson said the song was unfinished and that he wasn't putting it on the album. But he intended to finish it. A couple of weeks later Glenn asked if the song was done yet - no, not yet. A month later, again, no not yet. Jackson's slow writing process meant that sometimes he ran into writing blocks. And he was blocked - on the 2nd verse. Glenn offered to help him finish the song - lyrically, mostly. How about, ....a girl my Lord in a flatbed Ford slowing down to take a look at me. Come on baby, don't say maybe.... Only Glenn Frey could come up with such a lyric. Naturally, Glenn got permission from Jackson to have the song. The rest is history.

And when the Eagles fell apart and weren't on working terms anymore - this Jackson Browne song came to the rescue. Travis Tritt recorded Take it Easy as done by artists in Nashville as a tribute to the Eagles. Tritt asked Frey if he would be on the video, "...I'll do it if Don will..." And he asked Don Henley. "...I'll do it if Glenn will...." So, after 14 years the Eagles got back together on this video shoot which led them to eventually reuniting. Here is Tritt's version, and thanks Jackson Browne for being so generous. (correction: it was JD Souther who was living with Glenn Frey.)
