Hi, I'm looking for advice on how/if this situation can be repaired. I moved in to this house a few months ago, and it appears the Blaze King was overfired. The bracket that lifts the bypass damper has corroded/melted to pieces, and the frame around the bypass opening is compromised. The chimney sweep guy said there was likely a fire in the flue pipe. Hoping for a remedy besides dropping $5k on a new stove. Are there aftermarket parts for this?

I think you're out of luck unless. It would require a lot of welding to get that right.
And if you had a chimney fire, you may also need new pipe.

The gaskets are also shot.

I think water dripped in from the flue?

The parts are available and it is almost certainly possible to fix. Cutting and welding is required to the stove while it’s flipped over in its top. Not something to be done in your living room.

Can you cut and weld in confined spaces? Do you know somebody that can?

I think that if the frame around the bypass opening is damaged, a whole new plate needs to be put in at the top of the firebox. Not sure that's available?
Cutting out a rectangle and replacing it with a rectangle with the bypass hole cut out is not trivial either.

And it begs the question what else is wrong with the stove .
And flue.

I'd be very hesitant.

I would just replace it all. It’s not worth the potential risk of burning your house down.

The dome is allegedly 3/8” plate and doubtfully damaged. The melt away retainers have done what they’re supposed to and melted away.

Nobody said this is an easy or feasible fix. Possible, yes.

It’s an older stove from the generation of my princess and these things aren’t exactly lifelong appliances so replacement should be considered against the cost of repair if you can even find someone willing to take this on.

The cat looks fried too. In Alaska, I’d just replace it.

We make a bypass plate replacement kit.
We also make a bypass gasket retainer replacement kit.

You can order these from any Blaze King dealer. You will need the model number and serial number from the back of the stove to make certain the correct parts are sent.

The side baffle plates are not intended to be replaced, but since they appear to still be there, they should still do the job.

This repair isn't difficult, but you should make the repairs outside of your home.
