Ive been a scrounger up to this point gettin wood off building lots but Im looking at buying a truck load of full length logs. Im still going to scrounge but this way i can get a year ahead and be more selective on what I take. Any advise on ordering this way $300 hardwood load the guys says it should split down to about 18 face cord.

cut split all winter and in the spring or next summer sell some for 175 as seasoned to make your money back! and you will still have about 5 yrs supply!
That's an incredbile deal. Will they deliver to CT? Even if they subtracted 10 and made it 8 cord, you'd still be getting one hell of a deal. Hardwood prices here are 100-150 a cord.
Are you talking about full 128 cubic feet of wood cords or face cords? I'm thinking 18 cords of any wood would be to heavy for anything but a rail car. You don't live near RR tracks do you?

No doubt a good deal no matter what your definition of a cord is. Not sure I would spend too much time scrounging at that price. Anywhere near Syracuse?
C/s/d this spring was $400 for three full cords of hickory, w & r oak and sugar maple mix. $750 for a 6 cord mix. Log length for an estimated 10 full cord load of red oak was $1k-1.2k. $300 for 6 full cord would be a deal.
In my area "face cord" is a recognized term for a known measurement. Ricks and racks are questioned more frequently. Then again hush puppies would have to be identified as a food item or one might think shoes were being discussed.

I just called for a price today and was told $695 for 6-7 cord delivered. With a wait list time of several weeks, not that that matters too much since it's for next year and beyond. 16-20ft mixed hardwood logs
I haven't ordered log length wood here in central PA, but my neighbor told me he gets about 6 cords for $300. The pile I saw after his last delivery looked more like four cords, but maybe he put some inside. This would be mixed hardwood - it seems like loggers keep the straight oaks and sell the rest to firewood burners.

And a truck of pine is $1400 Cdn. Truck of fir is 1600 to 1800 bucks.
My brother buys log loads of 7 - 8 cords for $650 in NYS. So I think that is a good deal. I too would ( was going to put stop ) slow down on my scrounging. I cannot drive past a free pile of wood.
Agreed.....even face cords would be a heckuva deal.......Last I saw in my area a truckload ran about $800 and splits to 8-9 cords
Got 3 loads coming after finding out how good of a price, one for my parents/family. The town wont let him process firewood anymore. his personal property isnt zoned commercial or whatever (another tree company is across street and have a huge commercial property and they complained to the town) That company wanted 550 for per load for same amount of wood. Im only a 5 mile hike for the guy.

Yeah, he was over gross also. The guys up in Michigan are heavier than that, but they use more axles. The guys that haul offroad up here push 200,000lbs pulling 1 trailer. Some pull 2 trailers.
