Hello, I am in my first year of using a Mansfield 8011 that came with my new-to-me log home. There was no model number stated on the plate, so I didn't realize it was a different design than most of the threads here pertain to.
I was thrown off during my first use as all of my research here applied to the newer Mansfield with sliding air controls (versus my rotating primary air lever). I quickly downloaded the manual and now have some questions:
From my reading here, the newer Mansfields operate well with the air lever fully closed. My 8011 manual, though, suggests the optimal burn should be somewhere in the middle of the adjustment. Is there a difference in intake volume between the 8011s and later models, or should the 8011 also operate well fully closed for the night burn?
Also, I was reading that the 8011 has a steel secondary manifold, which was quickly changed to cast iron on subsequent models. I assume there is a reason for this change... Do I need to be more careful about overfiring or anything else in order to prevent warpage or damage?
Any other big differences I should be aware of?
Thanks!
