Thanks again Eric. Agree on the SqFt. Larger homes would need the Harmon 105 BTU PB105 Pellet Boiler.

$5K is still kinda steep considering I got the 110K BTU Buderus G115WS/4 for $1200 from The Granite Group less the NH State rebate check of $600.

So $600 plus burner, outdoor reset, plumbing parts and some labor!

Our house is 2800 sq ft, + basement. HF60 has no problem keeping up. Now, if you have it heating your DHW and some radiant floors, etc. then the PB100 would be the way to go. For most houses, the HF60 will be fine.

You heard correctly. She said she used about one ton last winter.
Guessing the winter there is not that cold.

If she is in England the winters there up until recently have been rather mild and if my friend in Wales place is representative of the common houses they are rather small in room sizes.

I do believe that things have gotten a lot colder this year.

Also there is more than just that pellet boiler doing the heating if that diagram is any indication.

Electricity cost is a little less than what we would've spent on propane, but not being indentured to the gas pushers is worth it. It's great if the house will be sitting idle, or if the demands aren't high. I wouldn't recommend it for a family of 6 though, as the cost savings would be negligible at best.

Price has gone up in the 2 years since I installed mine, but all told you can probably have it installed for less than $1000. (I did mine own, it's not that hard, 3 50 amp breakers, lots of 10 gauge wire and some shark fittings) The space savings is really nice, but the lights in the house do momentarily dim when it kicks on. Judy in England is only using a pellet boiler no solar stuff.

However Donny (Wherever he is) is using DHW Solar with the 2 coil water tank.

5 tons is not bad!

However if used the 2 coil Superstore as I outlined above with Solar DHW Panels connected to your HF60 then you would save a bundle$$ more!!
