New woodshed started today

There is a very good cross breeze where the shed is . I started putting the back on last night and I only did about a 1 inch spacing . I'm now second guessing myself if I should go more for more wind to go through on the back and sides ? I'm going to be useing this for wood that is already seasoned outside all year or 2 and then move it into this for the winter use. What do u think ? I'm ok with more spacing , I just don't want a lot of snow to get in . Air moving through it would be nice to tho . What do u think ?

I would suggest sticking with the one inch gap if, as you say, the wood has already been seasoned outside for a year or two. I have an one inch gap in the boards and it seems to be a good amount -- still allows plenty of air flow (at least with the outside stacks), but doesn't allow much snow to get in. Personally, I think most of the seasoning has already happened before I even put the wood into the shed . . .

First off beautiful shed.I like the rough look off your slat boards. I had a question on the pitch of your roof. I'm in the process of designing and building my own shed. Everything I have found through reading says 3:1 or 4:1 pitch ratio on a slant roof. Now I have only had two cups of coffee this morning but if my math is correct: 7.5' front, 6.5' back @ 8' deep gives you a pitch of 1.5:1. I'm not saying your wrong by any means, just trying to see if there was a special reasoning behind it so I might incorporate it into my design.

no real reason behind it honestly . It looked good enough to me for one , and secondly , im a union pipefitter by trade ,$hit runs downhill at 1/8 -1/4" per foot , so i would imagine this roof will serve just fine as a rain shield and shed the water just fine. haha

ha ha I wish the plumber in my old house would have followed this rule. Sloped the waste pipe from one of my bathrooms to the mainline in the wrong direction. You can imagine the mess I hade when I cut that line loose! Thanks again for the info and beautiful shed

I built a lean to on the back of my garage and it only drops 2" over 12 ft. Never had a problem shedding water, snow stays on little longer but still melts/slides off faster than my shingle roof.

Floor is done And sides are done , other than minor details it's done and can be filled now . I still have to cut off flush the rough cut ends sticking out

Came out nice think, did you use two 8 footers for the header? Mine's going to b 8' x 16' with a middle pole like yours, wasn't sure if I should go with a 16 footer or two 8's.

Mine is Actually 2 nine foot pieces , 16 foot wide with a foot of overhang per side

I also plan to get 2x12 to connect the front span on the top , the ends already are 2x12

8 cords all stacked , lots of room left , prolly be able to fit 16 face cords in here seeing as I have only used 3 feet of the 8 deep lol
