I thought Woodstock made essentially all of their stoves with two layers of soapstone, each being roughly 3/4" thick, held in a cast iron frame. Is this not the case anymore?

I'm not even sure what firebrick v. soapstone liner you're discussing, and was just providing some theoretical / scientific fuel for the debate.
I Ideal Steel (their new stove this year) is a steel stove. You can get the inside of the stove lined with either soapstone or firebrick (of the same thickness).

And soapstone panels on the end.

Wasn't that stove that was the overall winner in at the D.C. stove games? It maybe a good stove but IMO it still needs something done to it's looks. It wouldn't fly in my living room.

Yep, it won that .They are making a smaller hybrid for next year. I believe it's a take off on their traditional looking "Franklin" model. It should be a good fit for those that dislike the bells and whistles.
