....I see, so, eh....what kinda wiggle room do we have on this price sir? I have swedish fish....

no, everything isnt negotiable. Different retailers do different things, and of course we can only control what we ourselves do. Sadly, I dont have any control of what my competition does. I can say tho, as I said above, that I do know what I need to sell things at to keep the doors open, and, well, frankly, you have absolutely no clue what that is. So, given that I do know what I need to sell things at (to stay open), I set a price which I feel is mutually equitable, and do not allow any employees to override that....unless they want to pay for the difference themselves.

now, my competition might negotiate....so, maybe the price of that unit depends upon the negotiation skills of the consumer, I guess. Is it fair and ethical to charge one person more than another, based upon their bargaining skills, or the color of their skin, or what they look like, or, dare I say, how sexy they are? I cant say I think it is, but thats me. I can absolutely guarantee that I wont negotiate with you. Sorry if I offended you, its not my intent.

So, nothing is negotiable with you. That's fine, but it certainly does not mean the price of the item itself is not negotiable. It just means I'd shop it elsewhere and find someone that is not going to charge sticker price. Even if a manufacturer saddles their distributors with MAPs, there are still ways around that.

Need more info. Is it a painted or enamel version, small or xtra large surround? How tall is your chimney? Multi flue cap or stand alone. Masonry cap on that chimney? If you want to shop it around you will eventually find what you are looking for. If you are at all interested in a refurbished unit in Beach Enamel, let me know.

The unit painted is $4100 retail, $4800 enamel, Liner $500, install and delivery another $500...$5800 doesn't seem that out of line for enamel...and we got tax on top of it too.

Not selling you...just stating the going rates and retail numbers.
